Thermal Scanner Recommendation

What's a good 640 thermal scanner for under $3000? Looking hard at Rix Titan T6 and Nocpix Lumi H35R and Vista H35R. Yes I used the search option.

I have the Rattler V2 and really like it. Hand held uses 18650 batt.

Totally depends on your needs/wants. Tight cover and IMO excellent mage plus great fov is the Rix st6 which they changed to the “lite” designation. 1x base mag may not fit your needs but l have used mine in the flat ground of Illinois on 2 trips and was great even way out there 6-800yds

And it will helmet mt.

Gman you are correct, there are a lot of good choices!

The Nockpix Vista H35R has a 60hz refresh. For a scanner is that a big deal vs 50hz?

Regional Video Standards (PAL vs. NTSC)
    • 50 Hz (PAL Standard): Devices built or targeted for Europe, Asia, and other regions using the PAL broadcast and electrical standard typically output at 50 Hz (50 frames per second) to match local power and video grids.
    • 60 Hz (NTSC Standard): Devices built for North America and other NTSC regions typically run at 60 Hz (60 frames per second) to sync with local 60 Hz electrical and display norms.
Power and Battery Trade-offs
    • Lower power draw: A 50 Hz refresh rate cycles the sensor and internal processor slightly fewer times per second than a 60 Hz rate. This can yield minor savings in battery life and reduce internal heat generation.
    • Smoothness vs. 60 Hz: While 60 Hz delivers slightly lower latency and a marginally smoother picture during ultra-fast panning, the real-world difference between 50 Hz and 60 Hz is minimal for most hunting and observation tasks compared to the large jump from 30 Hz to 50 Hz.

I seriously doubt you would ever see a difference in a thermal unit that refreshes 50 times per second or 60 times per second in a hunting scenario. The power consumption also goes up with a higher refresh rate.

I have the ReachIR 640-35. It is amazing.

Is anyone making an affordable 1280 scanner? I will upgrade when this happens.

I only have experience with the RIX Titan T6. I really like it and it works well and is comfortable in my hand and easy to operate but it is a little heavy IMO. I'm sure there are plenty other good scanners out there also but the T6 is the only one I can speak on as far as 640 scanners.

I just sent back a Guide TJ1250 1280 res scanner I was testing.
I'm not a small individual and pretty fit, to me the TJ1250 is just too heavy and big to be used in the field as a practical handheld spotter.
It has an incredible image, wide FOV, uses 18650 batteries, great in inclimate weather and is the cheapest 1280 res spotter($3,000) on the market because they're discontinuing them on this side of the pond.
If it wasn't 2+ lbs I would've kept it, but most of the 1280 res units are heavy because of the battery(s) needed to power them and all that 1280 res thermal gizmo goodness to cram inside of them.
I have three AGM spotters (Fuzion 640, ReachiR 640 and Taipan V2 384) and they've been real work horses, but AGM and most overseas 640 res spotters have a 12x10 degree FOV and you only get a bigger FOV(17x13) if you go down to 384 res units.
I don't know how they went under my radar, but the RIX Stride ST6 and Armasight Sidekick 640 res spotters did.
Probably because they were geared towards the helmet mounted crowd and the price tag.
After contacting members here and on other forums, videos about the ST6 with rave reviews and comparing the two spotters specs, I purchased the newest RIX version, the RIX ST6 lite.
640 Res, 17x13 FOV @1 or 1.5x, easy controls, removable 18650 battery, weighs less than 1/2 lb and is $1,000 cheaper than the flagship ST6 model.
Those specs are music to any Northeast or close/mid range hunters ears.
Lord willing and the creeks don't rise, I should have it Friday and put it to work Friday Pm.

I have both the NocPix Vista and the Lumi H35R. The Vista is larger and is better for more open fields or sitting in the stand and scanning. The Lumi is no slouch and is great for walking and stalking. Cant go wrong with either.

Took the RIX Stride ST6 lite out last night for a spin and it's a winner.
Really liking the wider FOV, size and lightness of it too.
Just need to read the instructions to find out how to declutter the screen and all will be good.
My other spotters will be collecting dust.

The ST6 Lite has my attention!
