I have the ReachIR 640-35. It is amazing.
Is anyone making an affordable 1280 scanner? I will upgrade when this happens.
I just sent back a Guide TJ1250 1280 res scanner I was testing.
I'm not a small individual and pretty fit, to me the TJ1250 is just too heavy and big to be used in the field as a practical handheld spotter.
It has an incredible image, wide FOV, uses 18650 batteries, great in inclimate weather and is the cheapest 1280 res spotter($3,000) on the market because they're discontinuing them on this side of the pond.
If it wasn't 2+ lbs I would've kept it, but most of the 1280 res units are heavy because of the battery(s) needed to power them and all that 1280 res thermal gizmo goodness to cram inside of them.
I have three AGM spotters (Fuzion 640, ReachiR 640 and Taipan V2 384) and they've been real work horses, but AGM and most overseas 640 res spotters have a 12x10 degree FOV and you only get a bigger FOV(17x13) if you go down to 384 res units.
I don't know how they went under my radar, but the RIX Stride ST6 and Armasight Sidekick 640 res spotters did.
Probably because they were geared towards the helmet mounted crowd and the price tag.
After contacting members here and on other forums, videos about the ST6 with rave reviews and comparing the two spotters specs, I purchased the newest RIX version, the RIX ST6 lite.
640 Res, 17x13 FOV @1 or 1.5x, easy controls, removable 18650 battery, weighs less than 1/2 lb and is $1,000 cheaper than the flagship ST6 model.
Those specs are music to any Northeast or close/mid range hunters ears.
Lord willing and the creeks don't rise, I should have it Friday and put it to work Friday Pm.
