What's the oldest hand call you have? Is it a hand me down from Granpa, or did you fork out big bucks for it? Do you know who made it, and what do you think it's market value is? And where can I find a copy of "Hunting and Fishing Collectibles Magazine"?

My oldest call isn't a hand-me-down from grandpa, I Am grandpa! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif My oldest is probably a Burnham Bros. call. It didn't cost much either, probably $2.50 or so. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I really don't remember what they cost back then.

Here is a link to the magazine you asked about. I bet they could hook you up with an issue.

Thanks Granpa, LOL. I can relate. I wish I knew what happened to my 2 Burnham Bros. calls I bought in the 70's.

I have an old wooden Circe 3 sound proffesional model. I bought it brand new in AZ in the late 80's. Todd in Alaska told me from my description of the call and the decal on it that it was probably made in the late 60's or 1970. Mine is a wooden Circe made in Goodyear AZ. That means that the call is just about as old as I am. I dont know where the guy at the little store in AZ I bought it from got it. It was unused "or appeared to be unused in the late 80's" when I bought it. I have no idea what it is worth. I still use it and will probably keep on using it.

I own a wooden Circe prototype made by Lew Mossinger. Three are in existence. Gerry Blair presented one to Jay, one to me, and he owns the third. Nice shade of green there, Todd. heh heh

Less see a pic Rich!!!!! Then I will offer you, I mean show you Green!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

(just a name change)

Oldest actual predator call? Hmmm. Not really sure but could be early to mid-40's "Coffin" call. 1948 Higley call. Possibly 1949 Pied Piper Cowhorn.

Hmmmmmm,
Rich, that's what Gerry told me when he gave me one of the only two ever made. He had the other.
That was back in 1991 after our first hunt together(see May,91 Trapper&Predator Caller).
Call em in close___Pedro

Pete, that is great!!!
Wouldn't it be funny if Gerry had a boxful of those one of a kind treasures?
How you feeling? Well enough to do any calling?
I was looking at the photos you sent me of an Az. desert hunt and in the wheatfields of Id. just yesterday.
Be well, Pete.

I have a wooden Faulks cotton-tail distress that I bought in the mid to late 80's. It has a metal reed very similar to a hydel wood duck call. Is Faulks still around?

Rich,
Thanks for the concern for my health. I'am doing just fine, back to work and all. They cooked the tumors on my liver and they are completely gone after chemo. But cancer has a nasty habit of comming back. Anyway, for now things look good.
Yes, I am doing a little calling and getting some dogs. I hunt with a friend of Alaska Yoter(Todd) and this guy calls softer and quititter then anyone I've ever heard. The dogs still come even though I can't hear him 60 or 70yds. away.
One of these days I need the learn how to post pictures on the net. Have lots of good ones, some old and some new. Later____ Pedro

Forgot to add, on that same trip Gerry conned me out of my last Circe wood Trophy call, a Weems AllCall (new in the box), and a Thompson #200 (new in the box). Guess he was still collecting then. Pedro

Geez Pete, I hope Gerry bought you flowers and dinner. At least kissed you first. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

YH, is your call one piece, or two? Does it still have a label? What's it say? I think Faulk's is still in business. Dealers are still selling them.

NASA- It is a one piece. Still has the label. The label is yellow and say "Faulk's P-60 Predator Call 616-18th St. Lake Charles" and has the head of a lion, eagle and coyote (wolf) on it.

Light walnut or dark brown finish? I'm guessing dark brown. I'm trying to find the light walnut one like I had years ago.

I got an early model "Sioux" coyote call that I paid a hefty price for on Ebay just last month. It looks suspiciously like a dried up blade of grass, but you'd expect it to, considering that it's nearly 700 years old. At least that's what the guy I bought it from told me. You can still see the marks on it where the maker clamped it between his thumbs and fingers. I'd post a pic, but it's in the safety deposit box at the bank. You don't leave something like that just lying around. Are ya jealous now, Todd?!? Go ahead, make me an offer. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Maybe that's all it is. I'd like to see it, because I would be skeptical that its 700 years old.

NASA- I' say light walnut. It is just under 4 inches (3 7/8) and is the same diameter as a quarter. It has 2 grooves that encircle the end of the barrel and has another groove towards the mouth end like for a lanyard. Between that and the mouth, it has a slight hour glass like contour.
