Mountain curs?

I'm getting a mountain cur pup this summer and am wondering how they are at home? Are they ok with kids or are they more kennel dogs? I don't like to kennel dogs but would rather let them run in the back yard. Also, how big do they get?

Just a few questions, thanks!

big c I will let you know at a latter date. I will have mine with in the next 2 weeks. It is my first. Here is the litter mate to the one that I'm getting.

bigc,
What area does the breader that you are using live? The one that I am getting mine from lives in Montana. If you want shoot me an email with contact info and I can forward it on. Mine will be related to Mike Grangers Bubba Cur!

I'm not sure of the pedigry, but the breeder is a gov't trapper in wyoming. I'll get more info and fill you in more.

Thanks cougar,

C

The guy I'm using was in WY. He just moved to MT. He breads for allot of gov trappers! I think that we may be talking about the same breader!

What I want to know is how come he's sittin there calm as can be instead of chasin that cat in the back ground up one of them big ole pine trees I see?
Anyway to make the pic smaller so we dont have to scroll side to side to read the posts?

Dang it Crapshoot! Now the picture won't have the same effect on my wife! The big blown up version was sure to warm her up to the idea of how cute they are!

I have to go the cute route, because she isn't super hip to the idea of them helping me kill even more coyotes!

Thanks a lot!

Bigc, I just picked up this guy this weekend. I also was able to see the parent dogs and to observe how well they behaved with kids present. The father is brindle and white while the mother is black with a little brindle.

RanUtah,
Great looking pup you have there! Can wait to hear the stories and see the pictures! Lots of good times ahead! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

I have a 17month old Kemmer Mountain Cur, he's been in the house since he was a pup. He's great with the kids, he's by no means mean but he is protective of the house and yard especially when I'm gone. The best advice I can give is keep him with you, drag him everywhere you go and they'll do what you ask. I use him for decoying/toiling called coyotes, he's a fast learner and smart. He's a good house dog but he deffinately needs room and time to run, full of energy. I don't know what your planning on using him for, coon/bear/coyote but when it comes to game he is fearless and very rough. Best of luck, you'll have as much of a learning process as the dog once your owned by a cur. Here's some pictures of him hunting and in the house, he's just as comfortable both places.

as far as size goes he's about 25" at the shoulder and 60lbs.

I have a liter of kemmer pups available now, and they are great dogs. I have had mine in the back yard and they are great around kids and adults. My male is about 80 pounds and my female is about 53 pounds. I really like the breed because they are smart and they can turn it on when they need to and turn it off and play with the kids when they need to do that.
I still have 3 females and 1 male left if you are interested.

I finally got my cur today! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
