Ok guys I am looking to put a 1-4 scope on my AR. I am looking for one that is cheap but good. I want something that is not going to break the bank but performs as good as one that does. The two I have looked at so far is the primary arms and the new Bushnell AR scope. Anybody have any thoughts on these scopes. Thanks in advance

If you can find that, it will probably be somewhere near the fountain of youth.

I have a 1-4x x 20 Leupold on a Marlin 336 in 444 Marlin. Been some years since I bought it but as I recall it ran about $200 at bear basin. I think it would do fine on an AR.

The Primary arms optic get good reviews within it's price point as does the Bushnell. Bushnell makes a wide variety of optics, not all of them created equally.

For something a step above the basic optic that "will do OK" but not a $2500 35mm body tube tactical scope, I like the Burris MTAC series of optics.

Good luck with your search for the perfect scope that is good 'nuff for your application.

I run 3 of the Burris MTAC's and I'm very pleased with them and I have shot out to 500yds with them on steel, I just bought a SIGTAC CP-4 to try out. they are a PRISMATIC reticle with 3 reticle modes – non-illuminated black, illuminated green and red. with 5 brightness settings for each illuminated mode (green and red) and they come with a picitinney mount so theres no rings to buy...

Take a look at the Leupold VX-I 1x4x20mm Shotgun scope @ $199 and I got mine with free shipping. I didn't put it on an AR but on a Combo gun and the great FOV on the low end,4x for long range(300yrds)and heavy duplex it make a great calling scope. I have a few of the 1x4's a VariX-II, VX-II, Elte 4200 and a Nikon Monarch. I like them because they can be mounted so low and the large FOV for close in work yet they don't handicap you on the ones that hang up out there a ways.

I've had really good luck with a bushnell trophy and wouldn't hesitate to buy another bushnell scope. The one thing I noticed about the AR line from bushnell is the weight. give it a shot of its in your budget and if it fits your needs keep it if not sell it and find something else.

I have looked thru a lot of scopes in my time but if I wanted a 1x4 I would go with the TRIJICON. Not cheap but the best scope for the money. Buy once---Cry once.

+1 Trijicons are great

I dont know what breaks your bank, but the leupold VXRs are really nice too.

I have a vortex PST 1-4, lite.reticle for.calling at night that I really like. But out of the vortexs scopes that I have its the only one I would.reccomend. I don't care for the pst 6-25x50 that I have.

I looked at the 4x vortex and I didn't like it. The Leopold was brighter clearer and the reticle was more to my liking. I do like vortex though they make great scopes IMO

Thanks guys for all the recomendations. I will have to look at all my options. Ive always been a Nikon guy because of their great eye relief and clear glass. I am stepping out of my comfort zone on this one
