1000 fps

The older I get the more the 6x45 appeals to me. You get the advantage of the big bore and a huge selection of bullets. Unlimited cheap brass, less powder, less recoil and if the critter escapes it's my fault, not the cartridge's fault anyway. An extra 200 fps normally just equates to me missing a bit faster.

I don't reload so that's basically what 5.56 is for me. Huge selection of factory ammo and I'm starting to appreciate the low recoil/blast for keeping the coyotes in my sight picture and suppression.

Why are there 25 different car manufacturers? Why are there 300 different ice cream makers?

But to halfway answer your question...

Those varmint rounds were designed to be fast. The 6arc wasn't. It's main purpose is to out do the 5.56 in an AR15 frame and it does that. You are comparing a round that was developed for military purposes to rounds that were specifically developed for varmint hunting.

Last week I watched a video that showed a 5.56 and 6arc being shot side by side. I think the 5.56 was shooting 77gr and the 6arc was shooting 105 or 108gr. Once the shooter got to 700 yards and beyond there was no comparison. The 6arc was WAY easier to shoot. Especially as the wind picked up.

I bought my 6arc for two reasons.

1. I wanted more "knock down power" for coyotes.
2. I wanted something that at the time was "different".

The 6arc filled both of those. I have shot enough coyotes with the 6arc to draw the conclusion that it hits a lot harder than a 223. I have yet to have to look for a coyote shot with it. Also, the 6arc can be loaded hotter for bolt rifles.
I used a 22-250 for a good while as my go to varmint round. I wanted to switch to an AR15 platform after a ton of research and 2 tons of my buddies (multiple) best judgment NOT TO I built a 6mm arc. I’m about 9 months with it and 1400 rounds through it. I love it and absolutely no regrets for yotes I shoot 80 grain V match factory. They flat anchor yotes, from 40-300 yards its a dead hold. Shot yotes from 40-420yards 420 yote is on video. This is my night rig iray bolt 50thc on it. I like it so much I built a matching 22arc a month ago for day rig/truck rifle. Roughly 200 rounds in using 62grain V match, very likely my 22-250 will never see another round put through it.

What ballistics are you getting with the 80 grain? Curious as to what your velocity and rise/drop are to get a 300 yard dead hold on coyotes.

I’m honestly not sure I’ve never chrono’d it. I also now it’s not quick, much less out of a gas gun, using only hornady factory. I don’t reload and doubt I ever will. It’s just a super forgiving and efficient round. Sorry, I know that’s not really an answer.
