1280 Res thermals

Not sure why you say the atn 1280 fizzled out, i love mine

ATN fizzled out for me because the Thor 5 has an internal battery only and I bought & paid for a T5 XD 3-30 LRF an ATN stalled me for 3+ months with all sorts of excuses so I bailed.
Now for a little bit more money (Before the tariff BS) the S60R that is head and shoulders above the T5 feature and quality wise is available.
For others the T5 might be a good option so please share some footage and experiences with your Thor 5 XD.

Picked up my S60R this morning from the PO.
Charged and got familiar with the controls before giving it a whirl and all I have to say for now is WOW.
I haven't handled a 1280 res scope since the RS75 came out and I forgot how awesome 1280 res is.
It's on a whole other level of thermal goodness and I can't wait to see how it performs in the evening hours.
I need to check image focus flexibility, as I've been using Halo scopes as my primaries for years and have gotten used to not having to focus a scope.

Day or night this scope is awesome.
I wish an American manufacturer would come out with a hi res thermal scope.
My focus flexibility worries with the S60R were unfounded.
Once focused at 100 yards I had no issue with image clarity when switching between targets at 50 and 200 yards, which would cover 95% of my stand shot distances.
The 2x base mag gives me a great FOV and the ocular zoom feature makes taking longer shots a breeze.
The one feature that I miss having from my Halo scopes is the reactive reticle.
Here's a video taken at 50 yards.
I can tell you that image clarity is diminished due to processing and it's still amazing.

Took a video last night with the S60R of my 44 pound Brittany running around the yard at 40-50 yards after driving around and not getting any good video of animals at distance.
75% Humidity and still a nice image.
The lag in the video must happen during processing as there's no lag when I'm viewing it in the scope or using it.
I took the video freehand and I have to say that this is probably the heaviest tube style scope I've owned.
I read that the image enhancement feature is intended for use in bad weather and will try that out as storms are forecasted for the next couple of days in my area.

I loved the rangefinder on my XRF but then upgraded to the TX60 a year ago. When the S60r came out it was a yes. A friend and I both got one and laugh every time we hunt at how amazing it is. Features are great and the rangefinder in the first to be as good as the XRF but the clarity is amazing. Put an American defense mount and no losing zero. I use my Helios xp50 pro2 most of the time but after looking through the S60 it doesn’t look as good as it used to😂😂. Had to get another before the price increase. I still use my Halos for buddy scopes and yes they are still good for 640 but higher resolution scopes are here to stay. I do wish it was 3x base but with optical and even digital zoom it looks amazing.

The scope that has my interest is the Rico2 S75R with a 3x base mag. But who knows when we’ll see them here. I read a post somewhere that Rix may have a 1280 coming out to, but who knows. I just hope one of the 2 releases them before the 2025 season is over.

The S75R is a nice optic, but the 3X base mag, large display and weight are the only features I like about it.
The Cost, proprietary battery and the side mounted LRF are detractors for me.
I haven't heard anything about a RIX 1280 scope being introduced, but the more the merrier.
Now it's time for manufacturers to start making decent priced 1280 res monoculars to compliment the 1280 res scopes.

Went out mus hunting with the S60R this morning and since it was drizzling I decided to test the ultra clear mode.
I was told that the ultra clear mode is supposed to be very useful in bad weather.
They were correct, it makes a difference.
I need to find a way to dim the glow of my lead dust collector.

Been enjoying the Mus eradication with the S60R/PCP rifle rig the last couple of months.
The only real negative I've found is short external battery life when running the Ultra Clear, LRF, Ballistic comp, WIFI, SONAR, Facial recognition and video features together.
When not using those features all at once battery life is Ok.
As was expected a premium cored 3500 10Ah battery performed a lot better than cheaper counterparts, but I'm still expecting a 25% decrease in battery life when the temps start dropping.
It's still worth every penny paid and I can't wait to get it in the field hunting big varmints.

Good to hear. My H50R is the same for battery life.

So I really screwed up a couple weeks ago and didn’t fully tighten down one of the tripod legs. Was standing at full height when it tipped over. Fell flat on the side of the scope. I checked zero on it a while later and it was still dead on. Only thing I’ve done was degreased the mounting screws and used a little lock tight before retorquing them on.

I have the iray TX60C on the 308W. Took it to the ranch, about 320 yds I could see and ID deer in the trees/brush, no problem. Watched them munch in the weeds. Would have no problem IDing yote or hog. Saw something with pointy ears closer in the tall grass but it disappeared before I could get on it. Ultra clear helps a little but I get a fuzzy edge on the target.

It’s a side mounted LFR but it’s integrated to the scope. Not a separate unit.

One of the factors in me choosing the S60R was after my downstate hunting buddy fell hard on his H50 scope after slipping on ice, breaking the Obj lens cover clean off.
We took it to the range the next day and it was dead on and NocPix sent him a new cover.

I carry my rifles in an ATV/UTV rifle case that opens from the end and having an external mounted LRF module on a scope was a no go because of the width limitations of the rifle case.
My Halo X50 just barely makes it in the case and the S60R fit's nicely because of the LRF being integrated into the Obj lens.
I'm still waiting on a decent sized 1280 res spotter to come out, as the current 1280 res spotters are big and bulky.

Iray TX60C ~200yds, base mag. Should have cranked up the mag to see any pixilation but was tired from waiting for hogs with the BO and Rattler. From one side of the lake to the other and beyond. Saw NO animals of any kind Friday nite! A few crows around during the day, it was a fast single day trip. Other pic is Rattler @ 100 yds. You can see the weeds were really high. My experiment for an alarm (cheap IR yard lite) never went off but I thought I saw a flash from the IR light on the game cam there.
