Dave, Your article about your 17Pred does the same thing to me....
This is my first year with the 17 and Im hooked. Here's mine: Remington 700 with RifleBasix trigger in 17Remington. It shoots the 30gr Bergers well.

17Rem,,,,LVSF,, but not for long. It's currently under going a rebuild with one of Holland's beautifull laminate stock's and a #5 Pac-Nor. I'll post pix when it's complete.

My dad has a Remington 700 BDL 17 Rem. He bought it earlier this year at a gun show about 2 mintues after I set it down and said I will be back for this one. $400 out the door with a cheap 3-9 scope on it. Brought it home and switched the scope out for a much nicer 3-10x40 scope I had.

I will be using it here when I start calling. Have 25gr V-max loaded up for it around 3900fps, with 5/8" groups at 100 yards.

I also have a 17hmr that I use for night hunting, in Michigan it is rimfires or shotguns at night. I havent taken a coyote with it but it sure hammers raccoons.

I was very close to buying a 17Rem barrel for an AR-15 but wasnt sure how the barrel life would be. The Remington SPS in 17 Fireball looks interesting but I dont need another project right now.

1BadShe,,,,,,,,I was going to wait untill the old barrel was off and then sell both as a package. (One transaction's always easier than two) but if you want it,, PM me an offer.
The pressure pad's are what gave me fits but they do have an alum bedding block and would probably be a nice upgrade for a plastic stocked ADL or the likes, with a little sanding in the barrel channel.

While I was typing this another member sent me a PM wanting to know if I'd sell him the barrel.
Looks like I may be on my way to being able to actually pay for the current build.

the stock in question is a Kelbly varminter stock. Pattern from Lee Sixx as Kelbly's bought all LS stock molds. The action is a Kodiak R/L single shot ... switch barrel.

The stock is black gel-coat with extra fine silver metallic flakes added to the gel coat. The color actually looks like a metallic gray paint, but impervious to scratches due to the stock finish.

those all are very nice pictures? I really like the mouse gun in 17- great picture of that little bitty bore and nice crown! I bought my first 17 Rem back about 15 years ago in an old Rem 700 BDL with old curved checkering, paid $475- so you got a real deal at $400. Mine still shoots 1/2 MOA. Vavorite load is the 21.8 grs of R12, Rem 7-1/2 primer, with a 25 or 30 grain pill. I use so many different bullets - they all shoot very well. I have been using Bergers lately. Thanks for the post. You guys are killin' me...first I wanted a .204, but now I'm REALLY lusting for a little .17predator wearing a 22" PacNor #2 contour 1-9"twist cradled inside a McMillan Classic w/ADL bottom metal.
