Nothing really wrong with what HarleyD is saying.
Blaine uses the coyote hunting experience for other related ventures such as videos, small caliber reloading tools and aids, etc. Selling the hides is just a small part of it.
He indeed is a concrete contractor but probably does quite well with those other ventures, Also, he has long been an advocate for the 17 caliber for coyote hunting, and I doubt there are too many folks sitting around who have more experience hunting coyotes than him or the others HarleyD mentioned.
A lot of times folks "hear" things about the 17 Remington and they become "fact" if repeated enough, whether they are valid or not.
Examples:
1. All are barrel foulers - not with a decent barrel they're not. I've shot 17's since the mid 1970's and only had one that fouled. It was a custom barrel, and its replacement was great. I recently sold a 22-250 (with full disclosure) that fouled badly - should I start a rumor about them and hope it sticks to the wall?
2. Affected by wind - get a good ballistic program and become amazed at what it will tell you versus other rounds. A good program will shoot lots of theories down.
One other point for thought: Comparing the 17 HMR to the 17 REM is like comparing a fire cracker to a hand grenade. - BCB
