I have a Savage BMAG stainless heavy barrel in 17 WSM. It's my fox/bobcat/closer range coyote rifle with a Leupold 2x7 33mm scope. Like others, I agree with most that it is rather ugly, the cock on close action is clunky and the factory stock is junk. I can live with that because for the price it is quite accurate, reliably fires and is a pleasure to carry due to it's low weight.
I finally decided to swap out the stock with Boyds (Savage B-mag Cla Sav B-mag Dbm Sa Bbc Item #: 43A584Q041ZZ). I am bedding it and will see if it makes accuracy any better. I did weigh both stocks and this is what I came up with:
Factory plastic stock (27.4 oz)
Boyds laminated stock (39.8 oz)
