1st Annual Whistlepig Shoot

It is Friday Evening - Only 2 days left till the Squirrel (whistlepig) Shoot!

I went to Boise & Nampa this morning, highway 16 had a bunch of squirrels running back and forth, so the critters are out and moving. The next few days it is going to be in the 70's! Just right for a great shoot.

I hope to see you all at the Check-In on Sunday morning between 6 and 8 AM - Behind Snake River Yamaha on Fairview Ave. Meridian.

The Shoot registration fees are $10.00 for members, and $15.00 for non-members. We will have a registration form for you to fill out, and collect your registration fees.

We are going to have a BBQ at the Weigh-In - the cost of the BBQ is $3.00 per person. Hamburgers, sausage, hot dogs, chips, pop, chili, and pot luck dishes.

I went and picked up the plaques today. And thought you all would like to see what you are going to win.

Each member of the team will receive a plaque - I only took pictures of one each of the plaques. These are 5" x 7".

OK! I got the numbers put together. We had 17 teams register for the shoot. Some came as far as Boulder Colorado, and JohnDay Oregon. We want to Thank everyone that came out and made our first whistlepig shoot a success.

Here are the 1st to 3rd Place winners:

1st Place - 74.43lbs - Todd Banta & Andy Dodson
2nd Place - 67.84lbs - David Whitehead & Wesley Founds
3rd Place - 43.16lbs - Jim Ford & Mike Brogan

We had a BBQ with hamburgers and hotdogs. And everyone had a goodtime. We held this shoot for the community - it was a fun hunt, there was no money prizes or product prizes for the winners, only plaques as a recognition for the accomplishment. We did have some trinkets from some sponsors, that we gave away. Everyone received a gift.

We here at GSPHA, appreciate your support, and hope to see everyone that were in the shoot become a member, and come out shoot in our future shoots.

Thank You.
Gary

Just when you thought only beef and pork came by the pound....Now there is ground squirrel - it takes a mess of them to make enough for dinner! LOL.

Covered with gravy, beside potatoes, you can't tell that it is range meat. Or throw them on the Barby, with a good slather of BBQ Sauce, Oooooo Buddy, Yummy!
