Depends on twist, barrel length, action and intended use.
They can be a hot on barrels if you load them up with 40gr pills. Most brands of rifle are well suited to and will stabalise the 55gr pill. Nosler VMax are quite explosive and do the job for making small game lift off. A little tougher and with great BC are the Sierra Ballistic Kings. Less BC, but real good on anything from rabbits to goats are the 55gr Sierra Game Kings. If you don't intend shooting beyong 300yds then have a look at the Sierra Pro Hunter 55gr pills. They have lower BC, but it really won't matter at less than 300yds. They have a flat base which is easier to give greater accuracy and gives greater room in the case for powder.
I have tried Varget and a list of other powders. I do find that for the same pressure signs and accuracy I get way better fps from Alliant Reloader 15. Each rifle varies in case capacity so the load in my rifle may not be safe in yours. For RE15 and 55gr pills I'd start at 34gr and work up 'til you find your sweet spot.
Lapua have released 22-250 cases. They are the best when considering the brass toughness, case capacity, consistancy and level of engineering. Buy it once and its all over.
Many people have varying opinions about bullet seating depth. Read what Horday have to say about it and then make up your mind (
http://www.hornady.com/ballistics-resource/internal). For my part in my two 22-250s I found that seating .020" from the lands worked for me. But that's in my kit not yours.
I do note that Federal primers use thinner cup brass. That leads them to show pressure signs very early. I ended up using CCI BR2 primers. A fair bit tougher, but be careful with pressure.
I hope that helps
