22 Hornet Brass

Ok Ive been to every gunstore in Va and can't find the first bag of 22 hornet brass and everywhere i look online is backordered till august and I need to reload about 300 before the end of june. Anyone got any idea where i can find some or what happened to all the brass?

I've noticed this in my area, also.

All I can suggest is that if you don't find any, buy some good factory ammo & when you're through with it you'll obtain the spent brass that way. Otherwise, you might be out of luck!

Good Luck.

I've been to green top 4x in the last 3 months and theyve been out everytime. They got some new unexperienced guy handling the reloading dept now and he's never done any reloading from what I was told. They've really started slacking. They stopped carrying a mojority of bullets to stock more mainline stuff. Not the greentop I usta know. I ordered the last three bags sportof remington brass off sportsmans so I should be good for a while.

Welcome to varmint season. I try to make a habit of buying anything I may need varmint wise by December at the latest. The small bore stuff drys up quick once you get near March and April, especially with all the P-dog and S-rat shooters. Those type shoots can really eat through some rounds. The Hornet is seeing another following of 17AH shooters now since Hornady has announced the 17HH. The 22 Hornet brass is going through what the 221 Fireball brass did when the 17FB came out. 22 Hornet chambered rifles are becoming popular as well for people wanting to build a 17HH or 17AH. I too have noticed Green Tops starting to be a little lacking in the reloading area. They seem to be shifting toward the "tacticool" crowd more. It seems to be happening everywhere.

Up here too.

There are three gunshops with five miles of me and all of them are 80% - 90% Tacticool stuff - you can put more junk on an AR than I ever thought was possible - from lights (Christmas lights too
wink.gif
), lasers, GPS, a loading press, a Morse code key, and a secret decoder ring - all painted BLACK!! If it's black and fits on a rail, it will sell, no matter how much it costs!

Here it is, May, and the grass and 'chucks are up - but you couldn't find a 700 VSSF on a bet.

I don't blame the dealers, this tacticool crap is 100%+ markup-profit, cuz the fools will by anything black that will go on a rail.

.

You see it on most of the forums also. Everyone wants a "Sniper" rifle. I predict that in 5 years, you'll be able to buy a .308 for Penny's on the dollar.

Last year when we were at the dog town a big black Suburban pulled up and four guys piled out. I thought it was a DEA raid. They all had black jump suits, leg holsters, chest rigs for their ARs, knee and elbow pads and cool $200+ shades. We talked a bit and found they were just there for a little dog shooting. We were about to have lunch so we told them to have a ball and put our guns up. They crawled around for a while and left. Couldn't find any dogs in range of their M forgeries with ACOG sights.

Yeah but if you really want to sell something, paint it bright green and stencil ZOMBIE on it.

Nooo dummy.. it's the Zombies that the Tacticool guys are preparing for... they are coming soon (in a theater near you

).

Make the 5:00 matinee and bring your AR rifle with you - sit in the first row, and when the Zombies come on the screen, you can say "Bang bang"..

I have nothing against any firearm but this tacticool craze is driving me nuts and speading like a virus. Assualt weapons will still be a target of the anti's and next will be the sniper rifles. It's all a war of words.

I feel the same - I have an AR (used to have three)... but there is a mind set that I think is bad for shooting.

While I was incarcerated in Cabelas for a short time, there was a guy that came in to get a 22 rifle for his daughter who was about 8 or 9.

He pointed to a pink Cricket rifle we had on display and said, "Can I see that weapon".

I had to bite my tongue on that one.

The NRA BEGS it's instructors to ask class students to stop calling guns "weapons" - it's gonna come back and bite us in the asss.

It's only a weapon when it is used as one - no one calls their kitchen knives, "weapons" but they are when you have an intruder - same with guns.

In time, I think we will get hurt with the tacticool thing too - and I'm not against the guns - it's the public perception that worries me.

I think there might be more to it. Cuz I see tactical watches, tactical underwear, tactical sneakers, and tactical everything, and it's not just aimed at "us"... it's general marketing.

I might be paranoid, but maybe the whole country is worried about "stuff".

Two years ago, we got an order for 1,500,000 rounds of SS109 w/steel penetrators from a dealer down south. I called the customer back to make sure, since a lot of ranges won't allow the SS109 - he said it was for when the "Zombies" come.

I didn't need a PhD in rocket science to figure that one out.

Yeah both the big gun stores around here are going taticool nuts. All my friends still laugh at me when I pull my Ar out with a 3x12 scope on it and full of nothing but varmit rounds and ask me when im goin to take that crap off and put a red dot or acog or some crap on it. My reply, im not planning on anything getting close enough to need those. For a all around good shootin cheap to reload round its hard to beat the 22h/k. I've had one for over 15 years when my dad gave it to me for christmas and its still my number one truck gun for taking care of those soybean munchin whistledogs
