I bet you will like it a lot! I bet you get a good long life out of that barrel too. Shooting song dogs aint near as hard on a barrel as colony varmints are. I love shooting prairie dogs with my Swift but I swear that the heat waves coming off of my barrel are in the shape of dollar signs.

Mr. Dust is that a swift you used in your avatar for that 705 yard shot?

I haven't really thought to hard about a 60 yet. I just wanted the option. I am first going to try the sierra 50 and 55 blitzking im thinking.

I really want to shoot 4064 out of this gun cause I have so much of it and I don't use it and haven't ever been able to sell or trade it locally. I have 40, 50, 55 gr vmax, 50, 55 gr nosler BT and the 50, 55 blitzkings to try now.

I see. Dont have a swift and have never used either of those for coyotes from my 22 250. I have had really good luck with sierra 60gr hp though. They dont have the best bc around but they are made for high velocity rounds and absolutely hammer coyotes and have been very easy on fur for me.

I may pick up a box of the 60 partitions to try. I don't care about hides. I just want coyotes to not move after I shoot em

I used to skin my coyotes but here in utah with the $50 bounty its more profitable to just get that and not mess with the skinning, stretching stuff.

I have been shooting the 60 grain Bergers in my .22-250 Ackley Improved and they are a Coyote killing S.O.B..... My rifle is a 1/12 twist and it shoots very good groups. I'm running them 3800 fps with RL-15 powder....The thing I like about the Bergers is that the B.C is .278.......

Good Hunting Chad

You should give the Sierra 60 gr HP Varminter bullet a try. It has a BC of .246 and is designed for the Swift and 22-250.

No! That was taken with my .223 AI! I had the Swift right beside me in its case but it was cooling and I had the AI in my hands when I spotted what I thought were prairie dogs but at first was not sure. They were a LONG way out there and I could not get and accurate reading with my rangefinder. I lobbed a few shots at them and walked the bullets into them. I shot about 10 or maybe even 15 times at what I was pretty sure to be prairie dogs but at that distance I could not be certain that I hit them or not. Fortunately I had my Honda ATV along on that trip and I went out to see if I hit any of them. I found four that I hit. Two at 680 yards, one at about 690 yards and one at 705 yards. I lazered from where they were killed to our big white Dodge truck next to where my bench was to get a reading. that was an exciting day. I have never taken any that far before or since but hopefully this year with my new .243 AI I just might be able to push that a tiny bit farther!

You should be able to break the 800 yard barrier with the 243 AI.

Testing has concluded that the 53 VMax is a bit inflated in its BC. And the Sierra seems a very slippery bullet. I've shot em at similar speeds and the Sierra seems to keep up a touch better. But it does take a while to notice. Just some FYI come my experience.

Coincidently, due to the price...my 223 will now be shoots 50 gr V/ZMax due to how cheap they can be had.

I should be able to, yes. Can I? Way different story. A 400 yard prairie dog is not too difficult to hit with a good gun. A 500 yarder is about twice as hard and I think that it doubles every 100 yards after that. But with the 87 grain Vmax still chugging along with almost 600 ft lbs of energy at that range the gun should indeed be well capable. Am I capable? Dunno. But I sure hope to find out.
