I was wondering what some of you guys favorite .223 loads for dogs are? My favorite load is 55 grain V-max with 25.7 grains of Varget with remington primers. One hole loads out of my Savage model 11.

Those 40 grain Blitz bullets are HUGELY accurate in several 22 caliber rifles I have; a GREAT design bullet. I tried every other 40 grain bullet made today, and none shot as well as the Blitz, not even close.
I like your Benchmark load, and I'll give it a try. Benchmark flows great thru the powder measure too. What Primers are you using with that load?

Thanks,

Martyn

If we are talking 40 grainers I have had good luck with the V-Max and 27grs of 748, are they still making the blitz bullet?? I thought I read they stopped it, the 50gr SX has worked well for me as well.

I was using ferderal gold medal/premium small rifle primers. Yeah I am kinda sold on the Blitzkings myself I also shoot 55gr outta my Rem. VSF Swift with great results.

I've tried 50 grain nosler ballistic tip, 50 grain Sierra HP, 55 grain Hornady SX all with varget and H4895 powders. The most accurate i've had was the 50 grain sierra HP with 26 grains of H4895. I'm trying out a new load with the Sierra 40 grain HP. Using 26.3grns of varget and also trying 27.0 of H4895 (Max Load i believe) with the same bullet. As a side note i had one Hornady SX come apart in the air so i'd start with a lower velocity on those bullets. I think i'm gonna try out the sierra blitzkings next in 50 grain- seems everyone likes their performance.

I was just looking at a can of Benchmark that I have and they are listing a load on the side of the can that says 27.3grs with a 40gr Nosler BT will get almost 3700fps, can anybody confirm that?? that seems like its steaming, Im guessing it has to be a max load.

H335 pushes those 40's out very well too..27 grns, and a little more depending upon pressure signs gets you to 3700 as well. Plus a 40 grn Vmax out of a 1/8 twist really works magic on pest control. Good luck, and load safe.
