Well the 22 Nosler doesn't even require the neck down. Just load and go. With that said I still would like to have a set of these dies.
Yes that is correct and as we are seeing that bras has been found wanting. The rebated rim just adds length to the case limiting bullet choice some what in the N. No matter what weight you choose the 22X6.8 will out run the Nosler. Seen it, done and know it on that one.
Toi address the Valkyrie before it shows up the case capacity is so low that a 222 magnum will equal it based on documentation I've seen. It can shoot the big 90's with a 7 twist, so they claim, but should have a faster rate for some wiggle room.
If you step away from the 90 that very few varminters will use then once again the 22X6.8 will out run it and quite frankly stomp a mud hole in its butt. Quite simply there is no substitute for cubic inches and in this case it is a difference of almost 18%.
A one step die turns this cartridge into a simple loading process no harder than a standard factory round with standard dies. No one bitches about making 6X45 out of 223 and there shouldn't be anymore issue on these.
Single source brass may well be the rule on the V. as it is currently on the Nosler and this is an issue since we know that as of late the Federal stuff is not noted for longevity and in the Nosler we know that their quality is hit and miss since they bought SSA.
The Nosler has no readily available substitute that we can make cases out of because of the rebated rim and the fact it's 45 MM long. Hagar brass can be substituted, requiring a change to a 6.8 bolt, but it is rare as hen's teeth at this time and none is available. A classic single source pain in the rear for the cognoscenti. At least with the 22X6.8 we have a bout five or six choices and while the V. can be made out of the 6.8 parent the process and location of the shoulder is starting to get down toward the thickening area and neck forming is going to be a bit problematic.
I have the Nosler and I'll have a Valkyrie but I'm pretty certain that the ratio of rounds down range comparison on rounds put down range will be something like 5:1 compared to the 22X6.8 even if I have to continue to use my bushing dies for case forming.
Just my thoughts after watching and digging on these two new kids on the block since the first whisper hit the news.
