As stated above, even a "not so perfect shot" will put a coyote down hard. 100 grain NBTs do the trick. 75 V-max will get you out there with very little hold over when you have a fast load and sighted right.
.243 used to be my favorite and has a lot of bullet choices. Then I pulled the trigger on the 25-06. Its bang, Thwop, and look for the pile of fur laying so flat you might just have to go looking to see where it is.
All the ballistics and numbers off the table the 25-06 just works. There don't seem to be too many things in life like that anymore.
