I can't decide what I want between the two. It will be used for yotes, hogs, and occasional deer. I'm leaning toward the 270 because I can go from 90 grains up to 180 grain bullets. I have smaller ones already but just want something different. Which do yal like better and why?
Also How good are the Remington 700 adl. I am a Savage/Stevens guy. I'm either going to get a adl or Stevens. I know the Stevens will be a shooter but I don't have any expirience with remingtons.

I like my 25 06 well enough that I sold my 270.

I have killed all of my bigger deer with the 25 06 and they died right on the spot.Shot a couple of hogs with it and a few coyotes(no runners there either).

It has a little less recoil than the 270.
 
I love my 25-06. They do recoil less than a .270 and mine shoots the 117gr SST Hornady like a house of fire. It has killed everything from coyotes, antelope, deer and even a elk. This is my most favorite round in the 06 size case.
 
Go with the Stevens in 25-06, you really dont need the accu-trigger for hunting, the 270 with heavy bullets is like the 30-06 in recoil, not as much fun shooting from the bench, you wont be under gunned for anything you listed. ed
 
My usual deer rifle is a .257R, so I have extensive experience with .257 bullets on deer. All that experience has been good. So, if you are hesitant about the effectiveness of a .257 caliber on deer, don't be in the least. I like a 110-120gr for deer. For hogs, I would be looking at a Nosler Partition or something similar, they are tough critters.

And, I have no doubt that it would do a good job on hogs. The yotes won't be much of a challenge unless you are worried about pelts. But, then a .270 would be at least as bad on skins. A .17 or .204 is much better if the pelts are an issue. So, your options at .257 or .277 are not pelt friendly at either end.
 
The 25 is more than enough up through deer, the .270 is overkill (recoil) on less than deer. The difference on the shoulder is light years, not that the .270 is brutal. I wouldn't do elk with a 25 though.
 
I'm not concerned about the effectiveness on deer. I usually hunt deer with my 223 or 243. I was more concerned about recoil. I have a 30/06 if I need bigger bullets. I think I'm gonna go with the 25/06.
 
I just love it when we look for reasons to buy a new gun. I have 4 Remingtons in my coral and 2 of them are 700s. They are good shooters I dont care what anybody says. That being said. So are Savage & Stevens as you already know. Chevy, Ford or Dodge?......Winchester?

You'll like it. I've picked up my first 2 + a new barrel in the last year or so and hunted with the 25's only last year. Very easy to shoot. I've had big and brutal covered for years, just now getting into the easy to shoot calibers

I have both & like both. To me it depends on factors you did not mention. If you want good performance with a shorter barrel I would go with 270. if you want alot of good factory ammo choices, go 270.
if you don't mind 24-26" tubes & load for performance, I like the 25-06 for that. Either gun is fine for the 3 animals you mentioned.
I have a 270ADL & a Sendero 25-06, now a 25-06 AI. If I had to choose 1, I would choose the 25-06 hands down.
 
I love my Rem .270 ADL, Bugholes at 100 Yds. with factory powerpoint loads. I'm not knocking the 25-06, never owned own.

Ozzy, not to hate but unless 1 2 and 3 are different groups I would hardly call that bug holes.

go with the 25-06 in ADL configuration.

I bought my best bud a 270 stevens a few years ago and it had to go to the smith.... Its accurate though.

I thought that two at first, but those aren't .277 sized holes.... Looks good to me!!!

Would definitely go with a 25.06 used it for years and have never had one get away. Good flat shooting gun and have taken deer out to 250 yds. I took my 150 class buck this year with it and shot a coyote on the way back to the house to get the truck. My brother shoots a 270 and has had it for 1 season and is already looking for a different gun.
