25x45 barrels cheap!

There is probably a reason they are cheap. Seems like this is where BHW is dumping their junk. Hasn't been good lately.

Yeah those prices are unbelievable. But I'm not willing to take another chance on them. The last one had a chamber that looked like it was done with a dremel tool.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...... I know BHW used to make good barrels but have heard some bad stuff about them since they were bought out. I bought my 25-45 barrel from SRC and have no complaints.

Just to set the record straight BHW was not bought out. Columbia River Arms actually formed BHW years ago and they decided to change the name last year.

Also your 25X45 barrel was quite possibly made by them. They did almost all the barrels the first few years they came out for SRC. In fact they were selling the barrel before SRC took it to SAAMI.

Fwiw my new 22 nosler tube from bhw seems to digest 53 vmax well. I was a little leary after it was not even moa with 55 bts and 60 vmax. 8 twist must like the long pills.

Might very well be a good deal . the .25x45 is a over-looked Cal. and It just might be a slow seller and there making room on the self @ end of the year for more space ?
My BHW, ( 16 inch ) .25x45 'sharps' ( 9 twist ) is a hammer . and (imho) ..I think it's a over-looked Gem of a EASY .223 and a 'simple neck-up and shoot' , caliber for the AR15 .

I am really happy and should have jumped on this Cal. years ago . You got no problems 16" barrel getting 2800+ Vel. out of it with 87 grn. bullet . but there is a really GOOD Node right at crossing into 2700+ Vel. fps that just hammers consistent MOA and better smaller with the Speer 87's . And you need an Adj. gas-block and is a must for best tuning the gas on the .257 size bore hole .
I Would probably get a 9 twist over a 10 that they offer on there web page . I been working with my barrel and been threw a few powders for burn rate, finding what really shines for good grouping and good working hunting velocity .
.

If IL would ever allow deer hunting with a rifle id be all over one of those. Good find though. I dont know much about the 25x45 but with bullet selection in 22 and 24 cal being so good i can't see what i would gain for just coyotes
*what id gain over 223 or 6x45

Most defiantly. Moving the heavies in .224 and neck-up for a 6x45 in the .223 brass out an AR, have the better BC. with better bullet choice over .257 bullets .

But the Rub is, to take advantage for pushing the Velocity in .224 & 6x45 . You cant take full advantage with either with a 16" barrel length . The bigger .257 Bore is more efficient with a short tube 16", and still get those 75 to 87 grain bullets moving very respectable Vel. being loaded in a smaller confined OAL in AR15 magazine .

6mm AR is pretty badass and I do like it . But.. (just my personal preference) in the AR15's , I like anything bigger than .224 Diam. hitting on Coyotes .
the .25x45 with running a suppressor on the muzzle in 16" barrel . The .257 just a better choice for myself in maintaining shorter Length and good performance .

Greg, my apologies. I was obviously misinformed. No malice intended.

All Black Hole barrels are made in house from raw solid barrel stock. Drilled rifled profiled and machine finished. Blackening and cerrakote are sent out.

so do you guys think they would be ok? I really want a 25x45 and this could be my break.
Im looking at a 1/9 twist in the 18". They show a 24" is it needed?
I prefer a shorter barrel.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jerod
