Supposedly we are getting closer to the release of this commercial offering from sharps. Anyone here have any inside knowledge as to what we should expect as far as what configurations will be available and what their price point will be?

I am going to get one of their new bolts. If these work out well I am sure they could become the standard. As for the cartridge they are saying guns, barrels and commercial brass will be available soon. I have spoke with them about sharing my load data I have compiled. One thing they are missing the boat on is they are marketing this to LEO/tactical and are just now pushing the hunting avenue. I spoke with them about the predator area of marketing but I think they have a different vision which I think is a mistake for this cartridge as I believe its one of the few that can really do many things well. Its been a hammer on yotes with the Sierra 70gr Blitz Kings and has already taken a couple of deer with soft point hunting bullets. ARcomp powder is what I am presently loading it with but many powders will work well with it. Reloading dies are available through them in RCBS and Redding. I have the RCBS set and have sold my CH4D dies I originally loaded with for a long while.

My 25x45 AR though keeps chugging along while waiting for one of their barrels to try out.

How heavy of a bullet can you run?

I am now leaning towards the 25-6.8 because the case is a hair shorter and 100 gr bullets could fit

But I like the ease and availability of 223 brass

Seems it has been 'close' to release ever since shot show 2011-that's three years ago! What's the hold up-just go ahead and release it-maybe it will be a proprietary round and therein lies the rub. Anyway it should make a great combo predator/deer round in the AR platform.

Agreed, it's always "soon" with those guys on barrels, prices, uppers, and brass. I jokingly call them the "Someday Sharps Rifle Company".

But the 25x45 is a really solid cartridge that a lot can be done with. I have shot 110gr bullets but its much more at home with 100gr or less bullets. The 90gr Sierra Blitz kings bring the pain and leave bullet wounds very similar to the 85hr Noslers. Most of the 87gr SP bullets all perform well. I actually like the noslers a little better as the group tighter in my 25x45. R10x and Xterminator powders have shown lots of promise with the heavier 100gr bullets.

Whats great about it is the cheap components, no sharper shoulders, no special bolts, or magazines. Most of the 6x45 data can be used to start work ups with. I plan to use the 100gr to hunt hogs later this spring/summer. I am used I a black hole barrel I had made and its been.
