We had a Ruger SS Compact that I bought my oldest son for 1st deer rifle 9 years ago. With it we killed three deer and one coyote, all but the first deer with Remington 120 Accutips.
Death on a cracker, and shot those 120s into .75, but he decided to trade it to my brother for a 77 Tang model Ultralight .270 with a longer length of pull.
My brother has already lent it to a neighbor kid in Colorado who piled up a good sized mulie with it. Bro got it for when he's drawn for his bighorn tag.
I have too many rifles these days, but if I see a .308 or .243 Savage and can get it cheap enough I may put a 24 or 26-in. barrel in .260 or .260AI on it for long-range shooting. The ballistics are much better than .308, and the kick is much milder.
