Go read about it before you form your opinion. oh, I forgot you you know everything.

I have read about it but Im wondering why go through all this trouble to shoot a 6.8mm bullet when the 6.8spc will already do it and do it better?

Exactly - the 6.8spc does everything this does.

Boy, you guys are a lively bunch here. I do believe the reason MDWS is doing this is because the 5.56
is around in great numbers and cheaper that 6.8 brass. Also takes standard 5.56 bolts and magazines-he states that this is in way can compete with the 6.8.
This is the last post from me. to many A-Holes here.

I've only seen one A-hole on here and seems he's a really new member starting BS with all the older members. Hmmm, wonder who he is??

Yeah...I don't like the taste of crow either, but sometimes you just have to eat it!

What a piece of work. We are "trolls and A-holes" because you can't read/comprehend

Priceless.........

So tell me, is the Wolverine a 6.8x45? Or is the case something else. I want something other than 5.56 x 45 but have not found the right combo to commit the money. kwg

basically this is what it is..

its a wildcat based on the 5.56 case, shooting a .277 cal bullet.
the case length is trimmed down to 39, (6.8x39)

basically the guy made it just because he wanted to, because there wasn't one out there aready that was easily available( the Kramer?)

wasn't intended to compete with the 6.8, just use cheap brass, same mags etc and use the same bullets from 85-??? weight, since there are a good number that perform well at the velocities he would be getting.

so far he is getting some decent results.
im really thinking about going this route, just because, no other reason than that.
seems kinda cool.
some of you more ballistic savvy guys can argue if the results are worth it.
hope that helps, since those threads get pretty long.

At least he said it was his last post. We can all hope!

Am I a Troll or an A-hole? Or both?

I'm thinking you now offically qualify as a "trollhole"

He has been getting a little direction from H at Arp. I do believe that barrels have been ordered and they are getting their die sizing near completion.
Should be a pretty good cat-low cost brass-pretty good selection of bullets-standard 5.56 bolts and mags.

What you have here gents, is yet another guy shamelessly plugging HIS PRODUCT while pretending to be somebody else.

It's too bad Mark from Mad Dog has left us, it was just starting to get fun.........

Kinda funny how he messed the name up in the title too

And has the nerve to calls us A-holes! My My My!

i read the original link to the "development" thread. i was less than impressed. maybe that is how wildcat development is done, but i expected more than crudely modifying dies and initial testing done with whatever powder was on hand.

personally if i were developing a round, i would test it first with the most applicable powders and have a set of dies made at the same time as a reamer to make the first barrel.

while i understand doing this because no one has done it, it is a bunch of work to duplicate what is almost there already, the 7mm tcu or the 6x45. the round really does not fill any niche. i would rather use a 6x45.

I love my 6x45s. I think it is a great round.

Ok, so wrong. He is not me. I am.

So, the .277 Wolverine is yes - based on a 5.56 parent case with the shoulder bumped back .20 and an overall case length of 39mm, or, 6.8x39.

I'm not going to get into the petty arguments y'all are having, but I registered and am posting to let you all know that he is not me, and I don't appreciate the accusation. Anyways, whether you care about it being a 6.8 or .277 bullet vs. a 6.5 or a 6 I don't care, but here's the numbers so far in a recap. Oh and to the guy that was disappointed that we had to do some tweaking here and there while developing a Wildcat has obviously never developed a Wildcat before.

So far we're getting 2690fps with a 90 grain TNT with no pressure signs at all. No cratered or flattened primers, no swipes, no case stretch. We have room to move so we'll cross 2700fps with no problem.

So far we're getting 2500fps with a 110 grain Sierra Pro Hunter, no cratered or flattened primers, no swipes, no case stretch. We have room to move so we should be able to get to 2550fps without issue.

These are out of a 16" Pac-Nor barrel and sub-MOA all day. The powders we are testing are those between typical 6.8SPC and 300BLK powders due to the bore size, case capacity, bullet weight and surface area.

Please remember that unlike the 6.8x45 Kramer, this cartridge uses unmodified 5.56 maps, including Pmags even with it's pointy little front mag rib. The velocities of the Wolverine nip at the heels of the Kramer which nips at the heels of the SPC. Also, this cartridge is now in production and barrels, die sets, WFT's, Ammo Gauges and such are ordered/being ordered. Not full production obviously, as the first batches have been ordered and we're waiting for delivery. However, that's a lot closer than others.

So, there ya' have it. If you have any questions let me know and I'd be happy to respond.

Edit: If you like a 6.5 in a 5.56 case, check out the 6.5PCC. Vic is a good guy and doing well with it.

And Ezbagr, thanks for talking about the cartridge and I won't hold it against you that you got the name wrong ;-). All good.
