3 shot groups vs 5 shot groups

The guy that owned the rifle (one of three) was 'affluent' and had lots of ammo to burn...Just couldn't pass up the experience and since I was providing the land for the shooting, he was generous...

I don't need to brag about groups no matter how many shots they are, I just look at them and smile

. If I shot all 5-shot groups I'd burn up my barrels and my ammo budget right about the time I found the 'perfect load'. In load work up, I like to either use the 'ladder test' method or the OCW method, shooting 3-shot groups round-robin style and looking for shifts in the average POI. Once I narrow in on a load I will try the occasional 5-shot group through a chronograph to check ES and SD.
