5 mistakes commonly made calling predators

Ya Kiz, I was an FNG @ Predetor Hunting and to PM. Now that I re-read all the posts, I see why I was hazed and this guy was turned insideout....yall sniffed him out quick....im impressed. I am very new to these types of forums and still have a lot to learn. About everything.........

firstcoueswas80- Fox season ended a few weeks ago but in November when it starts- contact me and for $200 I'll put foxes in front of you til you're blue in the face. I will need to blindfold you so you don't go back as I might have more clients lined up by then.

I knocked off $15 since you know VanWagen.

My tactics? Here they are- turn on the electronic caller to just about any grey fox distress sound, put your shotgun to your shoulder and don't blink. I hunt in thicker cover so it's fast and furious.

That's the most exciting way to do it. More fun when the first time you see them they are in you lap. I like not having enough time to calm down. Makes it kinda instinctive and very intense. Feel free to pass on that fox spot.

All this other stuff aside, you Arizona boys really do make that grey fox hunting sound like a lot of fun. I can tell you red fox are not nearly so aggressive, well at least the red fox around here are not.

Hunting gray foxes can sometimes seem like duck hunting with fur. They are a lot more aggressive than red foxes, and will run the larger, less aggressive red foxes out of the area. I try to kill every one that I can so that my dream of endless red foxes will someday come to pass. Unfortunately, I have a long way to go.

Maybe it's just me but I think those little grey's are actually prettier than reds. Then again, maybe it's just a case of Jone-zing for what is not locally available.

They're nothing but big squirrels with fangs, lol. They are amazingly plucky for their size. I once called one up with only a group coyote howl and a fawn in distress. What was he thinking?

Maybe we can arrange some sort of exchange student program for our foxes. I'll trade you two grays for every red.

They are a blast. Some are smart but most I have come across are pretty dumb. Only had one hang up on me and he wouldn't come in for beans. Threw every coax, lip squeak, distress that I had and he wouldn't break 80 yards. The last one I shot though, I spotted at about sixty or eighty yards and blew him a little kiss and he got dropped at eight yards. EIGHT YARDS. It was pretty cool.

You'll have to come out here this year. I know a few spots that hold a good number of foxes. I'll trade you a fox for a badger.

Kizmo, that description of yours made me smile. For some reason Scrat from the movie Ice Age popped into my head.

The reason we have so many grays is because we don't have as many yotes as you do. I would really rather have the grand prize instead of the set of steak knives.

That's funny. The area that has produced the most fox for me in AZ for the past few years is a short drive from Tucson. If you know what to look for you can find fox. They typically are found in pockets and just because it looks like a fox area doesn't mean they are fox there. It is always smart to practice smart wildlife management when you find a quality pocket of fox. Hunt them completely out and you'll have no more to harvest in that area in the future.

Are fox not like a coyote where if you hunt them out within months new ones will move into the area?
