6.8 SPC Brass

I would like to hear actual feedback from those who have an AR 6.8SPC and their experiences with different brass as to the number of firings, enlarged primer pockets, etc. I realize it depends on the pressure level of different reloads. Thanks.

I use 6.8 parent brass for my 6.5DTI. All of it works for my application in a hunting rifle; I have used SSA, Rem, Barrett(SSA), Hornady, and Federal. Hornady seems to be the most precisely made by appearance but Barrett/SSA seems to be my favorite has it has more case capacity, no primer crimp, and small primer pockets. There are differing generations of all of these that vary by head stamp and desirability by the 6.8 cognoscenti. Remington works fine but the necks are a bit thinner ime resulting in less neck tension and the large primer pocket requires extra attention when reloading. No issues with durability as I am not a high volume shooter. I anneal with a candle flame every 2-3 firings and before the first firing; nearly all my brass has been purchased as 'once fired'.

Thank you for the reply. I'm leaning toward using the small primer pocket brass and would prefer not to have to remove primer crimps.

I have used Silver State since day one(4 years). I have had no problems.
Since they were sold I do not know if the new ones are any good.

I've been using Hornady brass with 120 SST, AA220 and H335 with CCI 41 primers.

Check out the reloading section of the 6.8 forums.

Federal brass seems to get loose primer pockets faster than other brands when shooting really hot loads. Keep stuff mild to normal and they last for 6+ loadings easy. Usually the cheapest you will find but it is crimped.

Mostly ssa for me in 6.8 and 6dti. I prefer the small primers and have up to 10 loadings on a few hundred pieces And the pockets still haven't loosened.
