6.8 spc scope

I have a 4.5X14 on mine, and I don't feel it is to much scope. But I also have a 2X7 on a 300 Black out. I guess it comes down to what your comfortable with.

I have an Elcan Specter 1.5-6 on mine. Expensive scope, but I lucked across it at a very good price. Magnification is ideal for my shooting needs (day and night with thermal clip on at nite), but this particular scope is a beast and I wold pick something lighter weight in the 2-7 range, if I were to do it over.

I have a Swarovski Z3 4x12x50 sitting in the box I was going to use for a deer rifle. Is this too much scope for a 6.8spc? I run a Leupold 3x9 mark AR on my .223 RRA.

My 6.8's sport 4-12x40 and 2.5-16x50mm.

It might have a bit more drop, but the 6.8 carries a lot more punch between 300-600yrds than a 223rem (twice the energy, twice the momentum, and 3x the TKO factor at 600), so I built mine with longer range work in mind. As such, I put appropriate scopes on top.

In dense cover and out to 250 yards, I use a 1.25-4 VXR with the pig plex reticle and Leupold mount.

My wife uses a 3-9 4200 and a PEPR mount on her setup.

My 6.8AR has a 8x32 Nightforce on it and my bolt action has a Leupold 8.5x25. I like a lot of scope! ( I don't hunt with either).

I have a Burris 3-9x40 30mm tube with illuminated dot in German#4 reticle on my 6.8. It's primarily my bear over bait rifle, hence the illuminated dot. A black reticle against a black bear at dusk is tough to see!

Not to nit pick you and not trying to offend you- according to your signature you also have not killed anything to speak of.

To the OP-Buy the best glass you can afford and as much magnification as you can handle. Make sure the low end is low enough for field of view and close shots. Always carry it and Call on low power. It is much easier to go up in power on a far out critter than to go down when he is staring at you from 20 feet.

Going through this very thing right now. Have a 4-12x40 Nikon now but moving down to a 3-9x40. I feel at 300yrds or so 9power is good for me.
