Accuracy systems mini 14

I'm up in Canada where one of the few auto loading 223 guns we can hunt with is the ruger mini 14. I've always wanted one but there poor accuracy rep has kept me away. I found accuracy systems online and see they do a package that they guarantee to make them shoot under 1moa with factory ammo. Has anyone got any experience with this company's work? I understand the package is worth pretty much the same price as a new mini but I've always wanted one and I have a buddy who swears there is no way to get a mini 14 to shoot under 1moa so I also want to prove him wrong lol.

My understanding is that some of the newer renditions of the Mini shoot much more repeatably accurately than some of the older ones. May wanna check some of them out, and fire some first to compare. AFAIK, the Accuracy Systems guns are very accurate.

Didn't Ruger offer a Target model with an adjustable tuner on the barrel? Accuracy Systems is pretty pricey if memory serves me.

What other choices are offered besides the Ruger?

Tavor, xcr, benelli mr1, some odd bull pups but for under 2k up here mini 14 is about all we got lol. I don't think they offer the target model anymore. Yes they charge 799 to do the package on a rifle you send in.

Probably the biggest factor effecting accuracy of the mini 14 is they are way over gassed. This causes the bolt to slam backwards in the action making the action move in the stock with each shot. It is violent.

I would just start with the adjustable gas block from accuracy systems. That way you can tune the gas to your particular load or shut it off completely with no shell ejection. Brass ejecting 20 to 30 feet is the first clue the rifle needs the gas tamed.

With the gas adjusted, mini 14's are usually minute of vitals at reasonable hunting ranges.

I bought a few years ago a mini of theirs it was called leviathan/target model and at 100 yards it's a 1/2in group shooter all day long and its fun to shoot too

I have had good luck accurizing mini 14’s. I have never found it necessary to replace the barrel. A good trigger job helps. A smaller gas port bushing helps but most effective on what I have worked on is my own version of something like the “Harr Bar” not sure about the spelling. Several manufacturers but I made mine, last one would shoot an inch or less worst one about 2 1/2 at a hundred, plenty good for 150 yard coyotes

I did a little surfing and some of the Target Mini's are still available on Gunbroker. A little more surfing on youtube has several videos on the Target version also. Looks like they shoot pretty good with the tuner adjusted.

He doesn't seem to have a lot of choices.

I’ve had one of there’s for about ten years. Shoots moa easily. Every bullet I’ve loaded was under moa. 60gr hornady sp, 60gr nbt, 62 gr tsx, 65gr gameking and 50gr

The trigger work they do is really nice almost like a set trigger. The barrel is also straight taper no thinning down for gas block. I’ve been really happy with the rifle had it for sale a couple times on cgn to pay bills but took ad down as soon as I paid my bills off.

In the last few pages are some coyotes I shot with it.

There is a nice stainless mini 14 on cgn right now for $775. I would get that and send trigger asi for a trigger job. My rifle now would be over $3000 to get built and imported to Canada.
