Well, we went to Cabelas cuz the price was right and the guy @ Cabelas said none of em were legal in CA. Not true. He also told us that he didnt know the TR nor did he know the difference between the 3 modles he had on the floor show room. We asked if the bbls were all chrome lined, he did not know. We asked if we could mount a scope on the carry handle, he did not know. We asked him if we could shoot 5.56 out of a .223 chamber, he did not know. (you cant) you can shoot a .223 from a 5.56 but not the other way around. We already knew all the answeres but wanted to test this guy a bit. This is Cabelas, hundreds of guns andd this guy didnt know JACK! I also asked another guy a few questions about rimfire ammo and he had to read the info off the box...LMAO!!!!
Just to get this strait no that AR is not legal in your state of CA so he was correct on that. So before you go poking fun at him maybe you should have researched a little better or maybe find a different FFL! The reasons being it does not have the bullet button and it comes with 30rd mags all of which make illegal! Just like you said it's Cabela's with 100's of guns! Do you think you would know everything there is to know about every gun on the rack??
he is correct, S&W does make CA legal AR's, but the M&P15A is not one of them. Your friend might want to double check the model and specs, lest he be found committing a Felony in the communist republic of CA.
