anyone had bad luck with their foxpro??

I am on my second FoxPro Firestorm. My first one i got from AllPredatorCalls. My wife got it for my xmas present. The call would not charge batterys. My charger was good and so were my batteries. My jack where the charger plugs into the call was bad. Well after 3 weeks of arguing with AllPredatorCalls with them sending me 4 batteries at a time to try and see if i had a bad battery they finally sent me a new unit. Well i used my new unit 3 times (by the time i got them to send me it season was almost over) i got it out saturday to charge it up to take it to alaska with me this week and its dead. Charger works batteries are good and the dang call wont take charge. I have takin the battereis and plugged them into my buddys firestorm and they charge right up. Has anyone else had this problem. Im pretty fed up with paying over 400 bucks for a call and it cost me half of one season and now I am goin on a wolf hunt and my call doesnt work.
 
What AP told you about a bad cell is usually the case. You seem to be having deeper trouble.

In order to salvage your hunt, I'll gladly overnight you some regular AA batteries to use for the caller. In case I have a caller run out of the re-chargable batteries when in the field, I go down to Radio Shack and get another battery tray for about $2 and keep it ready with Duracells just in case.

It could be that your charging issue is tray related as well. Sometimes the connectors with all those batteries can have a bad connection.

I have had a few problems with both mine. From time to time they act like they just won't take a charge. I always make sure I carry mouth calls "always". Just had it do it again to me Saturday night. If I am planning on going out in advance I take mine out and put them in a radio shack charger. It would be nice if Fox Pro had a way to make a battery charge indicator, that you could plug into the charge port to see the charge in the system before heading out.
 
The only probs I've had with My FX5 Is one of the battery holders was not allowing the batteries to charge as Barry mentioned. A $4.00 part at radio shack cured that. My 12 volt quick charger never worked from Day 1. Foxpro sent me a new one, no questions asked. Id say Im very happy with Foxpro. Good luck!
 
glad im not the only one with the problem haha. I will call them today. I was wanting to upgrade to the Fury but i dont think i am goin to spend anymore money. I do love the call and it sounds awesome. just had to many glitches

As crazy as it sounds the Fury does not come with a wall charger [or any charger for that matter] nor does it come with a USB cable. These must be purchased separately. One would think after shelling out 6 bones for a caller it could at least have a standard $10 wall charger.

The reason that the callers don't come with a wall charger is that the rechargable batteries vary greatly, and some batteries you can put in the caller can be damaged, or cause damage to the caller itself if used with the wrong application batteries....

Likewise, if you buy batteries and a charger not designed for the FoxPro and try to charge the batteries while in the caller with the charger not designed for the FoxPro they can even explode while in the caller, most cases resulting in damage to the caller.

So, to insure that you are getting the proper voltage batteries and charger, you can choose the option when you order your caller to get the proper batteries and charger for your unit. As crazy as it sounds, all batteries and chargers are not the same...

Lots of customers don't want to have rechargables in their caller, so to charge them extra for a feature they neither need nor want would not be a good idea either. That's why they are listed as an option when purchasing the caller.

Hope this helps explain the reasons some extra equipment isn't standard.

Come on dude, if someone uses the wrong charger and it ruins the unit then it is their own fault. This comes down profit & that is all it is. Would you buy a re-chargeable flashlight w/o a charger or a pack of smokes without a lighter??? I appreciate the corporate sales pitch and all but this is unacceptable. I purchased a Fury + 15 additional sounds + battery + charger + fox bang and I'm into the unit nearly 8 bones.

I love Foxpro and their customer service but no charger for $700+ is nonsense.

I am going to have to agree with Barry. You ask if he would be a rechargeable flashlight w/o a charger. I would ask you, did you buy a rechargeable Fury? I dont believe they advertise that, yet you bought it knowing that and willingly paid the price. Then complain aobut it. If you are that unhappy about it, why did you buy it? When you buy rechargeable batteries, do they always come with a charger? Why would you buy rechargeable batteries without a charger?

Like Barry stated, a lot of people dont use rechargeables so why would they want to pay for that option. If someone wants to go that route, they can buy them seperate. The FX3 had a built in charger. I remember reading stories of people damaging them because they (the customer) didnt charge them properly. I am sure Foxpro repaired quite a few of them even though it was not there fault.
 
My Scorpion came with a wall charger deal. I never use it. I'm sure the batteries would be fine, but I prefer to use a smart charger for my batteries, then I know they are charged optimally.

Last I checked, FoxPro wasn't in the battery charging business, and I have no problem with them sticking to their core compentency while the battery charging guys stick to theirs...
 
Well I had problems with my FX5 as well. After several years using it, I left it on the ground during a Night Hunt and run over it with a Dodge Cummings Diesel. It never worked very well after that.

Mike Dillon from FoxPro went way above and beyond my expectations helping me out. Prior to that my FX5 was sent back twice for repair. Not sure any of it was faulty workmanship because it still worked and I waited till off season to get it fixed.

I have a CS 24 right now and it has had a minor glitch since I got it. When playing loud and Muted it goes "BONG." After using it for well over a year I just borrowed it to a guy that was having Varmint trouble and he did not notice the problem and showed me his new Firestorm he just bought after using mine. I decided to sent it back before the season started and I am willing to bet it shows back up a couple weeks from now fixed.

I was kind of disappointed that it did not have a Charger when I first got it, but now I know I don't need one. I bought two of the FoxPro Smart chargers and they are worth the money. These things find bad batteries and let you know. The guy who borrowed my caller used it 4 nights with out running down the batteries and my batteries had not been charged in over a month. I was using FoxPro low discharge batteries that are indeed Low Discharge.

If you are having problems with your caller it could be a lot worse if you had another brand. Batteries should not be a problem and really should not be charged in the caller anyway.
 
i always have a 16 pack in the foxpro case ready to roll....now that 16 pack will be in the new furtaker vest....gotta keep up w/ the trendy new gear otherwise you wont smoke preds...lol....!
 
im not complaining about what the call comes with and how well the call works are dogs. I am complaining about spending 400 plus dollars and still dont have a unit that works. I have everything Foxpro (batteries charger and all) So there is no miss matchin S$h!t its all foxpro brand.
 
The only problem I've ever had with any of my foxpros was the battery pack connecting wires breaking. Same thing happened in my 416B and my FX3. Foxpro fixed the FX3 when I had it upgraded to an FX5, and I fixed the 416B myself. Never had any other noteable problems with my Foxpros.
 
My remote will not work under 30 degrees, Iv tried lithium batteries and every other kind possible, so when it gets under 30 i use mouth calls or my buddys Burnum brothers which works all the time.
And i dont think i should pay $500 for a call and buy additional sounds they should be available to all Foxpro owners FREE.

So does Burnham Brothers or anyone else give you all their sounds for free??
