Anyone hunt with a 7.62 x 39?

Its also sort of important to note that, unless something has changed quite a bit in the last couple years, foreign countries, such as russia used to (and possibly still do) measure rifle bores from land to land, and the US measures it from grove to grove, meaning that russian/chinese 7.62 bores are actually typically about .311 and US bores are .308, and of course the ammo from the respective countries follows suit, so US ammo will often function poorly out of foreign guns, and foreign ammo will often function poorly out of US made guns.

Yeah, its all about ratings. Did you see what they wanted for a surpressor installed on a Rem 700 .308?!?! IDK the exct nuber but it was like $1800 for the surpressor alone. Plus, I find it odd the front door is ALWAYS locked.

At anyrate, the round seems to be a decent enough one. I just dont have a nice that really needs filled with in. Maybe an SKS for bunny blasting, but thats about it...

The 7.62x39 is a great round and probably is best kept to the 100-200yd range for most work. However i just can't stop pushing myself to see how far it will work to. (like every other caliber i try)

While i haven't had the chance to use it on a coyote past 300yds, i have been able to punch holes through a 1/2" plywood 12" target at 350yds so i'm pretty sure it will drop one past that point. As stated above, bullet drop is the key.

As for the 7.62x54, well that round has proven itself for many years. Even the psl's floating around now will work very well at long range.
