Not down playing this because it's to bad but the kid didn't need to listen to talk radio or watch Fox news to be enraged. He lived right in the middle of it. If the government was as upset about what's going on just across Arizona's border and in Arizona as they are about this it may not have happened.
 
This is typical political crap these days. The ones saying we need to move toward more peaceful and less angry rhetoric are the ones pointing fingers and blaming everyone else(Sheriff Dubnik..prime example), thus pissing people off, creating the exact situation they claim to want to end. Mrs. Giffords was democrat and didnt deserve this anymore than the others. None of them deserved this!! But how are they going to blame right wingers(tea party, talk radio) when this guy was a liberal lefty who actually communicated with the congresswoman and was more supportive to her side?? This amounts to a "I'm liberal and you are supposed to be too, but aren't liberal enough, so I dont like you". The blame game is what has gotten us in trouble in this country. No accountability for actions for individuals. Ok...am off my box now!!

Here recently our current President has publicly stated that he was ready for a fight and it would be hand to hand combat. It may appear that some of the pugnaciousness running rampant in the political arena originated at the very top of the food chain. I hope he didn't learn his hand to hand combat @ Ft. Benning/Camp Darby! He might actually WIN!

I thought the sheriff coming out with his "vitriol and bigotry" statement at the early law enforcement press conference when he had absolutely zero evidence for such statements was disgusting.

It showed about as much respect for that 9 year old girl's death (as well as the others) as mullahs picking at the burned bodies of U.S. soldiers with sticks for international TV.

Why can't we just say that he was just a nut job rather than blame it on the politics of Arizona? I don't buy that argument for a minute...the guy was obviously not stable but I guess it's easier to point a finger at something. If this were the case there would probably be alot more dead politicians and attempts such as this one.
What I do buy is that this guy was extrememly obsessed with her and her family. This probably wouldn't have been as bad if the two people that had firearms with them would have actually used them. It's one thing to have the right carry and it's another thing to have the courage to step-up to the plate and do the right thing.
How about rather than blame either side, for a crazy a$$ guy, that people with carry and concealed put THEMSELVES (not the gov't) through situation training such as the lone gun man. Because what is the point of being able to conceal/carry if you do not have the courage and conviction to actually use it when needed? Just my .02

It will be interesting to see if the two armed people in the area explain why they did not try to use their weapons to stop the carnage. They might well prefer to remain silent as their lawyers probably would advise them.

It might not have been clear what was happening, and it happened very fast apparently. They might not have had a shot due to what their backstop would have been if they shot; might have hit others in the crowd.

A few years ago, I was @ the McDonalds @ NW 23rd and Broadway in OKC when I heard shots as I was chomping down on my second cheeseburger. As I walked toward the sound of the shots, two black men were having a mobile wrestling match over the possession of a cheap 9mm semi-auto. Since I had not witnessed the original crime, I had no clue who the perp was so I just kept them both covered to see if I would get a chance to intervene.

The big guy (who I thought was the perp!) turned out to be the victim but he was getting the better of the actual robber and as they drifted out into traffic, the gun dropped to the pavement giving me the chance to scoop it up so I would be the only one in possession of a pistol.

The smaller guy lit out over to the back of Byron's Liquor Store and climbed over the fence.

The perp was arrested very quickly as his sister had dropped him off and came to pick him up after the robbery. (Nice sister!) The CSI folks questioned her closely and learned where they lived.

I could have got in a heap of trouble if I had shot in this incident as I thought the bad guy was the BIG GUY and so I am real glad I had the good judgment to just get the weapon!

Sometimes I am real lucky!

RedEyeDawg showed alittle of that info. Read what this guy was puttin out before he shot these people. You dont have to proclaim or be told you are a liberal, conservative, etc. Your actions and words catergorize where you stand and what you are! I dont know what info is getting out outside of Arizona but it is all that is on tv and the web here. I see more info about this guy everytime I turn around. I'll try and post more showing his political or attempted political leanings.
 
Expert-i hear ya. What I am saying that I think that it would have been pretty obvious what was going on after he was the only one shooting...he fired 30 rounds before he was gang tackled while trying to reload...and you are right about those people probably keeping quiet especially if Arizona has a good samaritan law.

As far as his political leanings (or lack thereof) I really do not think that it's that important. I couldn't care less if he was a liberal or conservative. To me, he was a crazy mf that commited a horrenous act.

What does also matter to me is the fact that all of the liberals are trying to place the blame on conservatives...geee...what ever happened to uniting in a time of tragedy?

SAFEWAY says on their website that their AZ store will be closed until they have attended to all their employees needs and assess the situation. Probably would have few shoppers anyway.

The ripples of this crime are wide and deep!

You know Rim,
I tried to make that point in an earlier post; "how can one determine with certainty a party affiliation and then blame an individual or group soley based from the perps action/deranged/diverse readings/rants/utubes etc".
But, blah blah blah...the meme was set in motion.

Sarah Palin is taking an undeserved beating; twitters against her are sick..one bird brained twitter douche wishes her to "die in a hunting accident". Check Briebart's article on it..tolerant people all around.

Comments Liberals Seek Ban on Metaphors In Wake of Arizona Shooting

After the monstrous shooting in Arizona last week, surely we can all agree that we've got to pass Obama's agenda immediately and stop using metaphors.

At least I think that's what the mainstream media are trying to tell me.

Liberals instantly leapt on the sickening massacre at a Tucson political event over the weekend to accuse tea partiers, Sarah Palin and all conservatives who talk out loud of being complicit in murder by inspiring the shooter, Jared Loughner.

Of course, to make their case, they first must demonstrate:

(a) Right-wingers have called for violence against anyone, especially conservative, pro-Second Amendment Democratic congresswomen;

(b) Loughner was listening to them; and

(c) Loughner was influenced by them.

They've proved none of this. In fact, it's nearly the opposite.

Needless to say, no conservative has called for violence against anyone. Nor has any conservative engaged in any "rhetoric" that was likely to lead to violence. Every putative example of "violent rhetoric" these squeamish liberals produce keeps being matched by an identical example from the Democrats.

Sarah Palin, for example, had a chart of congressional districts being targeted by Republicans. So did the Democratic Leadership Committee. Indeed, Democratic consultant Bob Beckel went on Fox News and said he invented the bull's-eye maps.

Similarly, every time liberals produce an example of military lingo from a Republican -- "we're going to target this district" -- Republicans produce five more from the Democrats.

President "whose asses to kick" Obama predicted "hand-to-hand combat" with his political opponents and has made such remarks as "if they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun" -- making Obama the first American president to advocate gun fights since Andrew Jackson.

These are figures of speech known as "metaphors." (Do liberals know where we got the word "campaign"?)

It's not that both sides did something wrong; neither side did anything wrong. The drama queens need to settle down.

The winner of the most cretinous statement of 2011 -- and the list is now closed, so please hold your submissions -- is MSNBC's Chris Matthews, who on Monday night recalled Palin's statement, "We're not retreating, we're reloading," and said, I quote, "THAT'S not a metaphor."

Really, Chris? If that's not a metaphor, who did she shoot?

By blaming a mass killing on figures of speech, liberals sound as crazy as Loughner with his complaints about people's grammar. Maybe in lieu of dropping all metaphors, liberals should demand we ban metonymy so that tragedies like this will never happen again.

As for Loughner being influenced by tea partiers, Fox News and talk radio -- oops, another dead-end. According to all available evidence, Loughner is a liberal.

Every friend of Loughner who has characterized his politics has described him as liberal. Not one called him a conservative.

One friend says Loughner never listened to talk radio or watched the TV news. Throw in "never read books" and you have the dictionary definition of a liberal. Being completely uninformed is precisely how most liberals stay liberal.

According to voluminous Twitter postings on Saturday by one of Loughner's friends since high school, Catie Parker, he was "left wing," "a political radical" "quite liberal" and "a pot head."

If any public figure influenced this guy, my money's on Bill Maher.

But liberals have been so determined to exploit this tragedy to geld conservatives, they have told calculated lies about Loughner's politics.

In the most bald-faced lie I have ever read in The New York Times -- which is saying something -- that paper implied Loughner is a pro-life zealot. This is the precise opposite of the truth.

Only because numerous other news outlets, including ABC News and The Associated Press, reported the exact same shocking incident in much greater detail -- and with direct quotes -- do we know that the Times' rendition was complete bunk.

ABC News reported: "One Pima Community College student, who had a poetry class with Loughner later in his college career, said he would often act 'wildly inappropriate.'

"'One day (Loughner) started making comments about terrorism and laughing about killing the baby,' classmate Don Coorough told ABC News, referring to a discussion about abortions. 'The rest of us were looking at him in shock ... I thought this young man was troubled.'

"Another classmate, Lydian Ali, recalled the incident as well.

"'A girl had written a poem about an abortion. It was very emotional and she was teary eyed and he said something about strapping a bomb to the fetus and making a baby bomber,' Ali said."

Here's the Times' version: "After another student read a poem about getting an abortion, Mr. Loughner compared the young woman to a 'terrorist for killing the baby.'"

So that's how the Times transformed Loughner from a sicko laughing about a dead fetus to a deadly earnest pro-life fanatic. (Never believe a news story written by Eric Lipton, Charlie Savage or Scott Shane of The New York Times -- or for simplicity, anything in the Times.)

I wouldn't have mentioned Loughner far-left world view immediately after a tragedy like this, but now that liberals have opened the door by blaming Loughner politics, they better brace themselves.

And when I say "brace themselves," I don't mean they need to actually strap themselves into a brace. That's a metaphor, Chris.

One of the many horrific things pushed on the public this week, was an article by a Paul Krugman titled “Conscience of a Liberal”. It is only an example. It is by no means an isolated comment. Liberals everywhere, you should be ashamed of yourselves. You used this monstrous act, the attempted assassination of a congresswomen and the violent death of a nine year old girl, to try and make political points. Worse, now that your foolish deeds are exposed for the lies that they are, you continue to attempt to use this senseless act of a deranged man to try to push an agenda unsupported by any facts.

On November 5, 2009 a gunman, soon to be known as Nidal Malik Hasan entered his workplace, the Soldier Readiness Center. He proceeded to jump up on a desk and shout Allah akbar and began killing his fellow solders. We were then told by president Obama not to jump to conclusions. We conservatives asked questions, found answers and eventually the conclusions that we had held at bay, were proven obviously accurate. To this day, the Obama administration will not admit the fact that this was a planned terrorist attack by a Muslim extremist.

Now, this week, another mass murder has taken the lives of American Patriots. No restraint was requested and no restraint was shown. Every possible conclusion was jumped to, by such liberal media outlets as The Huffington Press, The New York Times and NBC news, just to name a few. Here are a few examples of their false reporting.

He was an Army Afghan war veteran… Wrong!
He is a Tea Party Sympathizer… Premeditated lie!
He is a Right wing radical…Wishful thinking, but Wrong!
He was moved by conservative talk shows… Premeditated lie!
He is an American Renaissance member and a Jew hater… Wrong!
He was moved to violence by Sarah Palin’s metaphors… Preposterous lie!

These left wing media outlets should issue an apology to the people and organizations they have “TARGETED”. That will never happen. These hypocritical heralds of hate should hang there heads in humiliation. Instead, they continue to push for gun control, and censorship of the truth. All the while they fail to see that THEY are the ones guilty of hate speech, and are without conscience.

War of the Words

The democrat party has advanced their front in the war on politically correct speech. Liberal politicians are targeting words and phrases that have either a gun or military bearing. Immediately after the shootings in Arizona the first salvo was fired off by a host of democrat congressmen, who complained about militaristic terms being deployed by right wing fascists.

To combat this strategy, democrats already have a variety of hate speech ordinance loaded into the breech and are ready to pull the trigger. This explosive new bill, while leaked as being a bombshell, will probably be a dud. With the House of Representatives being occupied by the republicans, democrats can only hope that this war of the words will win the hearts and minds of the voters as it plays out in our nation’s political battlefield.

For many years, conservatives have complained about the excessive violence found in movies, music and video games. What we know for sure is that Jared Loughner used, in his youtube video, a heavy metal song which repeated the lyrics “Let the Bodies Hit the Floor” and “something’s wrong with me” over and over. His favorite movies include “Loose Change”, a movie which is at the forefront of the 911 conspiracy theory, and the movies “Donnie Darko” and “A Scanner Darkly”. These last two are large production movies. They have cult followings and themes of brainwashing and altered states of consciousness. These themes are closely related to the sickness that is Jared Loughner.

In a recent press conference, the joint chiefs of staff have announced that they are screening a new pilot program and will run reviews on all military scripting to cancel the use of any Hollywood terms such as theater.

Never heard it put any better. It is also why the Liberal Nation is at any given moment made up mostly of the youth. They have not been around long enough and learned enough to become conservative. If it were not for the next generation coming along, the Liberal Nation would not be able to reload and would essentially cease to exist in terms of meaningful numbers.

But--if you will study the Myers-Briggs Personality-Index, you will find that 'Thinker-Feeler' is one of its four continuums to classify people and how they process information and are driven. The Chris Mathews-sorts who jump to conclusions are of the strongly 'JUDGEMENTAL'-type, which is the opposite end of the continuum starting with 'PERCEPTIVE' -- people who like to continue investigating, and hesitate to jump to a conclusion until they are satisfied from investigation that their conclusion is well-founded.

FYI: I was motivated to study this because I was an 'ESTP', whereas my then-wife was an 'INTJ', not necessarliy a match made in heaven!

If you had nothing to say about the DLC map with targets all over it at the time it was published, you have nothing to say now. How desperate do you and your ilk have to be to take the actions of a madman and try to draw any connection between them and the real world. There is none, there never was, nor can there ever be.
