Baby Glock G42

.380 is a 9mm
smile.gif

Its not the first bigger than pocket sized 380 on the market, they i believe can be found in a full size. the glock should be a sweetheart to shoot.

Its smaller then anything they currently make. The smallest 9mm is a 26, which is still double stack. I am not sure as far as frame size comparison between the two, but It sure feels smaller and more compact then the 26.

I love my Glocks and carry a 36 daily. My second favorite carry piece is a Taurus 740 Slim, single stack .40 S&W. It's the same size as the Glock 42, but in a man sized caliber. Taurus makes the same gun in 9mm, as well. 9mm is OK, as long as you keep it lubricated with Vagicil. You girls out there who carry 9s should have plenty of that around. LOL

Glock needs something that competes with the S&W Shield, Kahr P9, Ruger Compact and Springfield XDs platforms. This Glock 42 as it is currently chambered isn't going to do that.

Smokin250, Well my kimber solo 9 is a lot smaller by far and has alot more a**. It doesn't have a hammer hanging out like the sig since you stated that guess what it's not uncomfortable to shoot. I've never had a ftf or fte issue so I definitely wouldn't say it is unreliable. So what else you got? I have bigger guns I carry also. But as for as 380 I won't own one and if I did it sure as heck wouldn't be a glock. Like i said there are a lot better choices than a 42.

Clearly you must have missed this part, so I'll leave this hear fo you.

There are all sorts of carry guns on there....just like there are all sorts of calling rigs. Some people refuse to carry smaller calibers and would rather carry a full size 1911, on other hand some people want a pocket sized gun similar to a lcp. With people mixed in between. Any thing Kimber would like my absolute last choice for a gun I was protecting my on or others lives with. But see....what's the great thing about the country we live in....you can have your own opinion just like that, and I choose to carry my GLOCK, maybe not a 380 though. Hopefully you read all the way through this one and understand it.

Haha I'm sorry. I knew that one would get someone. But its my personal opinion. I have personally seen nothing but bad things out of Kimber in past 5-7 years. Could it be coincidence....I am not sure. However I have seen enough to steer me away. The older ones I've shot I like a lot, I can not say same for newer ones....could be me.

I just sold a Kimber 1911 .45 with that goofy external extractor they experimented with for a few years. That is no knock on external extractors, just on Kimber's especially poor design and execution of such.

Owww! If I was in love with 9's, that woulda hurt my last feeling. Luckily, I'm saving it for something else.

+1 My thoughts exactly

Actually the same could be said for the Glock 27. It is
about the same size as your Shield(6+1), and it holds 9+1
rounds of 40 S&W, with flush mags.

Actual specs for the three pistols:

Glock 42(380 Auto):
Length - 5.94", Height - 4.13", Width - .836", Weight - 13.4 oz empty, Capacity with flush mag - 6+1

M&P Shield(40 S&W):
Length - 6.1", Height - 4.6", Width - .95", Weight - 19.0 oz empty, Capacity with flush mag - 6+1

Glock 27(40 S&W):
Length - 6.29", Height - 4.17", Width - 1.18", Weight - 19.75 oz empty, Capacity with flush mag - 9+1

So if you really want to compare apples to apples, compare
to the Glock 27, and IMHO it spanks the M&P Shield...Higher
capacity, shorter height for better concealment, and bit
longer barrel.

The Glock 42 will be easier to hide, than the Shield or the
Glock 27. And if your want to again compare apples to apples,
the M&P Bodyguard 380 should be the comparison point.

M&P Bodyguard 380:
Length - 5.25", Height(measured on mine) - 4.19", Width(measured on mine) - .875", Weight - 12 oz, capacity
6+1

For me, the Glock 42 came in second to the M&P Bodyguard 380.
The M&P is shorter, about the same height, is lighter, and
has the same capacity. The real secret that makes the M&P
lights out better is the true double action hidden hammer
versus the striker fired Glock. If one pulls the trigger
on a round that doesn't go bang, the hammer fired M&P allows
for repeated primer strikes. The striker fired Glock has to
shuck the bad round. The M&P also comes with an integrated
laser. I really don't have much use for it, but it helps
in training, when I introduce people to pocket pistols, and
they struggle getting rounds on target. The laser movement
shows them their technique failures.

Yep, one of the largest .380's so it should've been a 9, but then again, very small for a Glock though.

Here's a video:

Squeeze, thanks for putting up the numbers with the comparision, I have only shot a couple of Glocks that a buddy has. I just lean to the S&W side (Chevy vs. Ford thing). I have buddies that swear by the Glocks and I like my S&W's.

We have this issue in my home. I carry Glocks, and my
wife is S&W M&P fan. I am jealous, because she sleeps with
me, and sleeps with her M&P.

Actually, I have a
M&P Bodyguard 380, so I could be accused of going both
ways.

I have a couple of XD's as well. I spread
the love.

We are truly blessed to live at a time when there are
so many good choices in pistols. One should be able to
find something that fits them well. As for the Glock 42,
it is just another choice, and it is a Glock, for those
that feel comfortable with that brand. I would like to
shoot one, but I doubt it will replace my M&P Bodyguard
as my pocket pistol.

Working at a gun store for 5 years (part time) I have always been a big supporter of the Sig P238 for a high quality carry 380... Yesterday was the first time I got my hands on the baby glock and I am very impressed. I personally would take this gun over the Sig. It is very high quality (like all glocks) and a couple hundred dollars cheaper than the sig. Could it be a little smaller, or a 9 mm? Sure. But to me its a perfect size and very well balanced. The only down fall in my book is that it has an absolutely terrible trigger. With a little work that can be improved.

In my opinion, here's my ranking for a compact carry gun (not all are considered in the same category, but close to)

1) Springfield XDs 45/9
2) Glock 42
3) Sig P238, P938
4) S&W Shield
5) S&W Bodyguard 380
6) Ruger LC380,LC9
7) Ruger LCP

If you're in the market for a pistol of any kind it truly comes down to what fits/feels best in your hand. Like I said, that list is just my opinion of what I've handled/shot.

So, where are you guys getting .380 ammo to shoot these G42's? I haven't seen any .380 rounds in over two years. When I saw it though, it was over $40 per 100 FMJ.

I almost bought my wife a .380. Glad a 9 pleased her more!
