There are some people who got it. That is why 80% of the tranferable guns out there are owned by 10% of the NFA collectors.

I originally started handloading just because I could not get sub MOA groups out of some of my bolts with factory loads.
I believe the best option for me would be to buy a less expensive chrome lined upper and slap that on when the mood hits me to go out and dump a few mags....

Tell you what. Send me a new barrel in .20 practical and I'll send you one in .223 that I guarantee you won't be able to hurt with a few heavy sessions. Heat it up until the barrel droops, just aim higher. It's a 2-3 moa at 100 at best, minute of man at 300 and has had roughly 10 million rounds through it. Plus it has history, was a florida swat rifle and was rode hard, went to a couple other agencies and was rode hard, ended up with my FIL as his patrol/swat rifle, came to me as my patrol rifle and at best was treated as a tool should be treated. Should stay on a dog to 200'ish but no good for prarie dogs past 50.

11 inch barrel with a 5.5" brake on it. If you miss it's loud enough to stun them for some follow up rounds.

Fair trade IMO

For anyone that hasn't considered it...

Doing a mag dump asap is fun, but please realize when doing this you are not giving yourself a chance to identify a squib round (a round that doesn't have 100% power, and often gets lodged in your barrel without exiting.)

If, you fail to realize this and send another round down the tube, you have potential for serious injury. I.E. AR-15 becomes hand grenade.

This is always a possibility, so just food for thought, we all take this risk, some mitigate that risk better than others.

That one would work, just cause it's cheap, but you could find a heavy BBL in the same price range if you looked. Then you would be ready for zombie Apocalypse Mag dumps till your ammo ran dry.

As of '01 when I left NMCB 74, we still had FA M16's, M16A2E3. We were so equipped because we were not alotted SAW's and only ran M60E3's as LMG. Each platoon had a designated automatic rifleman. He was authorized to go "twinkie forward." Everyone was equipped to fill that role, though.
It was always cool getting around Marine Corps units. At first, they wouldn't believe us that our rifles were FA, then after we proved it, they wanted to swap lowers.
I gotta ask what's twinkie forward? Curious minds want to know.
