Looking for the best .243 rifle on the market today. I am looking for a deer rifle for my girlfriend and may get an aftermarket stock to match her love for the color pink.

All advice appreciated!

This is sort of like asking which is better, Ford, Dodge, or Chevy.

Give us a price range. Factory or custom. You generally get what you pay for. The "Best" can get many answers.

i have a browning A-Bolt in .243 and I really like it. i haven't shot a lot of factory loads through it, but I was not impressed with the ones that I did shoot. It will group just under .45" with some 95gr nosler ballistic tips and IMR4895. It likes to shoot dirty. anywhere from 8-60+ rounds. Most i have put through it before cleaning is about 80. it was still grouping well.

it was priced just over 500 with the synthetic stock, which made it perfect to throw on the 4 wheeler, truck, or tractor and not worry about it getting knocked around a little.

Okay, I guess that is my fault for not adding in a price. I am not looking for a high dollar rifle. I want something that will be accurate enough for deer at her effective range. Which is probably no more than 200 yards, at best, at the moment. I am not looking to spend a lot. Basically the cheapest that you guys know of that has enough accuracy to take a deer at 200 and possibly further in the future. I do NOT want to spend much more than $400-500 before glass at the absolute most.

Thanks!

Savage Axis with some money left over for some decent glass.
Ruger American might be another choice, however, I am not a Ruger Fan.

No. The Axis trigger is not and has never been adjustable.

However... You can buy a Rifle Basix drop-in trigger for $89 and you have a better rifle than many of the options out there that are even more expensive.

For your stated purpose, I'm not sure if the adjustable trigger really matters. My Savage Axis in .223 came with a trigger that was just over 7.1 pounds (10 pull average method) out of the box. I still shot a 1.1 inch 5 shot (repeat 5 shot!) group with it right out of the box AND using factory ammo to boot. I did replace the trigger with Rifle Basix's excellent drop-in solution and to be certain it makes a big difference in overally feel as both pull and overtravel are adjustable.

I am NOT, however, a fan of the current fad for setting up hunting rifles with hair triggers. There is absolutely no reason to be setting up hunting rifles with sub-2 pound trigger pulls and to do so is courting disaster. I would have your significant other use the rifle first and only replace if the trigger pull really is an issue.

Unless you are going to paint the stock, you don't have many options for an aftermarket stock in the Ruger American or Axis. If any, YET...

Good choice, also look at the Marlin XS7 243 win.. It has a nice trigger and is adjustable. You can upgrade stock with a Boyds.

Can't go wrong with a tikka t3 but its just a few bucks past your price range. Usually they are about 530 bucks. Or the stevens has a huge following.

400 or less ? Hands down the marlin X7. Savage axis did come in muddy girl ( pink) camo at one time. 400.00 or less and the best should not be used in the same sentence though.
