Yup.

Step 1. Take Girlfriend to well stocked gun store. Step 2. Stand by with cash or credit card ready. Step 3. Remain silent while she looks over various rifles. Speak only when asked for information. Step 4. Pay the cashier for rifle that Girlfriend selects. Step 5. Enjoy life with happy Girlfriend.

I dunno, my 243 mt rifle ranks up there at a lil over 6 pds bare with a 22" bbl. Slender grip and forearm too. Just saying..

Basically the cheapest that you guys know of that has enough accuracy to take a deer at 200 and possibly further in the future. I do NOT want to spend much more than $400-500 before glass at the absolute most.

Thanks!

You cant go wrong with the savage axis. Ive got one in .223. She shoots great. With factory sierra 55gr. hpbt I was shooting a .55" group at 100yds. Its a cheaper rifle but a great gun for hunting and for the money you cant beat it

I agree a hundred percent. Hard to ask for the best 243 then get suggestions for an axis. Nothing against them but by the time you do a stock and or a trigger you'll be paying more than just buying a decent gun to start with.

Or this:

For a lower priced rifle in your price range, this is a
very good one. I did what was mentioned above and got rid of
the tupperware stock and replaced it with a nice Boyd's stock
which STILL all falls within your price range.

The trigger is adjustable but mine didn't need it. The
receiver reminds me a lot of a Remington receiver. Perhaps
that's just one more reason they're being called
"Marlingtons".

If you can find a place that has them, have her try it out
and see how it handles for her. I'm thinking she'll like it.

You got rid of the Marlin X factory stock? I modded mine by strengthen the foreend with a carbon arrow shaft (or alum rod) with filler. Did not spend much money on it, and has no bipod flex. Also bed action with Devcon. The stock performs well out to 600 yards. PM more with more info.
