Best budget scope

Well if you want to go real cheap...man I put a Millet 3-9 x 40 Buck Silver on a AR15 and it tracked well had clear distortion free / crisp view and only cost $50.00 or less awhile back at Natchez. Granted I did not have much time to get a good / durability review, but I was very surprised for the money. FWIW

Natchez no longer has them but here`s one

Would you like to add something of value? I offered the same thing that several other people have offered on several other sites. If your personal experience is different, please post up something other than 3 smilies.

The three smilies, was alot faster than typing that I had one that came on a Howa .204 that I had bought used. The model that I had was a 4x16 or 6x20 illuminated reticle with multiposition rheostat. The optics were like looking through a fish eye lense and above 12x it was like looking through fog. The integrated scope covers flew off of it under the heavy recoil of the .204(understandable). It did seem to hold it's zero for the 200 shots or so that I could stomach it on top of my rifle.

In short, it was terrible scope.....even for the money. Don't defend it, you'll just embarrass yourself. There are options out there that while cost only a LITTLE more, are far superior to ANYTHING Centerpoint makes. Only a little digging can net you a Burris FFII or Redfield Revolution for $100

ETA: Oh also the illuminated reticle on the lowest setting washed out the sight picture at night, making it useless.

Hands down best deal on a 4.4-14 now, as stated previously, is that $199 Burris Fullfield II (plex reticle) over at SWFA. Also, Natchez (and others) are closing out 3200 and 4200 Elites - a 5-15X40mm 3200 with sunshade is only $229 at Natchez this mo.! A refurbished 4.5-14X Nikon Buckmaster from there might be a low-price option, also.

Strong words for the internet. I would truly hate to embarrass myself. It is what it is. Cheap, and by most people's accounts good. Stay below 15 power, and take it back if you don't like it. It's a gamble, but buying a budget scope is a gamble and compromise. Did you try sending it back for a replacement? If you didn't like that one, you could have sold it online and made most of your money back.

OP, do you have a budget or price range in mind?

Like I said, I more or less got it for free, so I wasn't inclined to make any money off of it.

I gave it to a young new member here that didn't have any money to buy anything of value at the moment. I told him he could have it for free and I payed for the shipping, I just encouraged him to save up for something he would be proud of and replace it as soon as funds allowed.

If your looking for something in the 4-14x40mm range give the Pentax Pioneer 4.5-14x42mm scopes a spin. They are supposedly the similar as the burris fullfield II. I have 3 of them and they are tough to beat for the price. I paid around 175 to 200 for mine (2 with penta plex reticle and 1 with the ballistic plex reticle) I've been seeing them on ebay for 139 lately. I would be all over another one if I hadnt found a awesome deal on another bushnell 4200 4-16x50mm. The Pentax also has a lifetime no fault warranty, not that I've ever had to use it.

I've seen some Bushnell 4200's for $199 if you can live with the 3-9x40. They're replacing their '3x' technology with '4x'. I do not beleive this applies for a 12-14x scope though. Worth the thought if 9x will work for you.

I've owned a bunch of Weavers. Beaten the crap out of a couple, and they still work. Seems every time I do get rid of a Weaver, another one shows up. The Classics and the K and T series are much better than anything else in their price range, and better than some scopes that cost much more. I have found them to be very tough, repeatable, and very affordable.....

i picked up a burris 3-9x40 with a 20x50 spotting scope a couple years back for 300 bucks (package deal). dont know if they are still selling them like this but they are well worth it.

I'm using a 4.5-14x42 Burris FFII w/Ballistic Plex reticle (borrowing from my brother) on one of my AR's. Great scope for the money. Nice, sharp reticle and clear glass. I would highly recommend.
