Best Rifle Sling?

I've already got my own idea of what I'll be putting on my new rifle, but I'd like to get everyone else's opinion:

What sling do you have on your predator rifle and why??

Thanks for the comments!

I use a safari sling and love it you can sling your weapon with a back pack on and your weapon is at port arms and ready for action.

I've been buying these at Walmart for the last few years and have them on almost every rifle I own. There called a super sling and are heavy nylon and one hand adjustable. I think they cost 12 or 14 bucks.

Was always fond of the leather slings Remington used to provide with a new 700 BDL. Sadly I don't think they do anymore.
Still have a couple stashed away.

Use the "Claw" slings more and more.

Found them with "Winchester" stamp on them on sale at Bass Pro for 10 bucks. I can't stand a sling that slides off my shoulder while hiking.

The Claw or Butler Creek Neoprene slings are all that I will use. The Claw will not slip and the Butler Creeks are the most comfortable. These are the only ones I will reccommend!

It depends on what type of weapon you have and what your needs are. Will you be carrying it for long distances with your hands full? Will you need to deploy it quickly or do you just need a sling to get the weapon from the truck to your hunting location? Are you using an AR? If so, that opens up lots of options. There are hundreds of slings and thousands of opinions. One point, two point, three point, piece of rope and many others (ha ha). But really, get what fits your needs. Good luck.

All my rifles wear a Lattigo sling. Leather, military type for using the sling for steading your position, fast action, and easy to carry with. Available at Brownells.

I like the Claw also. I usually have a pack on and it helps keep the gun on my shoulder. I have eyed the Safari Sling too but have not taken the plunge.

I'm a fan of the old military slings, but haven't been able to find a good one. The sling I have on my .243 is made from a length of bridal leather (it's a little stiff, but works well) with a leather shoe lace laced in a cris-cross pattern where it sits on my shoulder for traction. I really like it and it looks like a sling. I made another for my dad's High Wall from natural colored bridal leather (the one for the .243 is black and 1 1/4" wide) with the crossed lacing and it looks really good. The only disadvantage is that it is not easily adjustable without having to unlace it, but I have not noticed a big difference while hunting for antelope, deer, or predators with varying layers of clothing. Also nice to custom build a piece of equipment /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I use about all the KWal-Mart brands that have 1" webbing, but i retrofit all them with a Fastex snap that opens up a world of flexibility with them.

I have a bunch of vero venelli (sp) slings. They do a fairly good job of holding the shoulder, though maybe not as good as the claw. One thing the vv slings are the very best at is absorbing shock.

I have 2 rifles with the Claw sling, and they were my best at staying put. My calling shotgun has an Uncle Mikes cordura sling, and even though it has a center "non-slip" strip, it was off my shoulder after the first few steps. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif

Not wanting to buy a Claw for every gun, I tried something. You know that rubberized paint you can get. I found some in a spray can (about 8 bucks), and put a coat on the strap each day, until I had about 6 or 8 heavy applications on the upper-inner part of the sling. At first it just absorbed the paint (I got red; the other choice was white..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif), and eventually it built up a rubbery finish. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have hunted 2 days with it now, and NOT ONE TIME has it slipped on my shoulder. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif It stays as good as the Claw, maybe better. I am delighted, and can see a red treatment in the future of several of my slings! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I used "Plasti Dip Spray-On Heavy Duty Flexible Rubber Coating", by PDI in Minnesota. www.plastidip.com

I found it in a local hardware store.
