Bigfoot, Sasquatch, Our Hairy Friend

Hay 187

I think you need to fix a word here ("I THINK THAT WANT HIM TO EXIST SO BAD" )Does not sound right to me JUST Checking /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif >>>

Hey Coyote Slayer -

Leave it to you to think that way about what 187 said! LOL

Yep it would be interesting to run in to bigfoot. Would be hard to convince people that I was sobber if I told the story. They'd say "There goes that crazy John" actually I'm not so sure that they don't say that now!

I JUST READ THIS THREAD! Huntsternorth, PORTERVILLE!? Thats where I live(very close) and hunt, although not that high most of the time.

I better keep on the lookout. Theres lots of people in Porterville that LOOK and SMELL like bigfoot,I know that much.

Hope there's no one from Porterville on this site  I might get in trouble.

LONEHOWL:

Do you know where Soda Springs is? It's just outside of the south Sequoia National Park border, on the Little Kern River.

Even though it's California, that used to be very wild country. It's a 25 or 30 mile hike from the road (or at least use to be).

Yes, it is still pretty wild.To be honest, Im always amazed when I realize just how wild some of the land around here is.Being CA you think there is a person around every tree but if you get into some of these areas it gets VERY lonely. You realize how isolated you are if something happens.
I venture into the Golden Trout Wilderness sometimes and I dont see a soul. And thats when I start thinking about Bigfoot and other bad stuff.
I do some calling over on the Sand Andreas Fault area and its very wild looking, and lonely /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Thats the way I like it though.
But Im not afraid....much.

Ive never heard Bigfoot stories around here, but Ive seen and heard plenty of other weird stuff.

How about the BIG MUDDY monster here in IL that is supposed to run around in the BIG MUDDY RIVER river bottoms never seen it but have has SMELLED something really bad, To the point of makeing my hair stand up on my neck and makeing me and my coon hunting budy leave real quick without the dogs!! heck the dogs even beats us back to the truck and even jump in the box for us.About a month later there was a sighting of it in the outskirts of a town called murphysboro and there was a couple of witness that stated it had a bad smelled to it.We were in or teens then and now where in our mid 30s and we still havent said much about it to each other or even went back there.

You are very welcome 187

Big foot is that one of those big hairy things that Bill Cosby talked about it the early 70s. Something like an OONY GOO GOO, yeah thats it. I've seen a few at the mall that I swear are decendents of the big foot speices.
I've got a hunting buddy named Johnny O. now I now he has a questionable family back ground, but boy can he lay down some tracks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
I had a flying saucer that was attached to a string when I was a little kid (45 yrs. ago) but the string broke and I lost it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Yep, that's ol' Aunt Norma alright... She was hitting the bottle pretty hard for a few years and was fine, but when she mixed booze and drugs she started seeing ALL kinds of stuff. Funny thing is she never even saw the woods, she was a city girl. But we'd find her laying in the yard and pick her up and she'd be grabbing the grass and calling them trees... Go figure??

One time, the Sheriff called us cause she walked down to their office and reported a Big Foot, and being single as she was, she ordered the officers to catch it and bring back alive, cause she had heard some rumor about men with big feet... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

OK, I'm only kidding... LOL /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

But I think it would be cool for someone to find some solid evidence of a real big foot or even the Loch Ness Monster... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

One of my deer hunting spots is right on Boggy Creek (of Boggy Creek Monster movie fame) in North West Texas and it's real spooky going down there alone, but I figure I have a .270 and it should be big enough to stop anything thats big enough for me to worry about...

ilcoyote- are you talking about the Stink-ape? there have been sighings in Fl,Ga,Oh and your state of Il. Here is a LINK to a sighting in Oh.

Sounds like a Bigfool with a need for a tic tak.

H2ODOG:

I've been to Minook Creek, and am going there again Sept. 5th on a moose hunt. For the past several years we've gone to the Huslia area in riverboats for our hunts, and most of my party is going there again this year. But that 3 day boat run is getting old for me. I'm going to run around the Sawtooth Mountains again with a co-worker to see if I can get my moose closer to home.

Minook Creek is indeed north of Manley. There is a trail from Eureka through the Minook Valley to Rampart on the Yukon River. Before I leave, I'll get a copy of Ms. Cobb's book to read on those dark nights.

Coyote Slayer

Nope haven't caught up with that griz yet. He has moved on for. He probably went higher on the mountain for the berries & all. It has been warm and dry here. Basically almost no rain for us. Not sure how that is affecting him or the otehr game here yet. But I'll be chasing him after the first when griz opens here.

Haven't been sheep chasing yet except for a quick scout. It has been way too warm. Might go this week if I'm in the mood.

Yes I seen more moose calves this year. Good sign I hope.

Heck if Bigfoot is along the Copper or Chitna just maybe I'll see him when I go back down. SIL is trying to get us all together for a hunt there. I wonder if there have been any sightings in that area. Going to have to ask about it. Sasquach is always a fun subject and my be some of the locals there have a story or two to tell.

Well get all your chores done, hope for cool weather and get out hunting!

huntsternorth, I worked at a pack station up by the Ponderosa called Aspen Meadows back in the early 70s. I know the Little Kern area, walked it and rode it on horse back many times. You start playing around in the Sierras not knowing what you are doing and you could die really easy. For some stupid reason people don't think California has any real wilderness. I would think outside of Alaska, California has more wilderness than any other state.
Speaking of Bigfoot, my wife and I saw a foot print last year on the banks of the Green River in Washigntion State. There was no way it was a human foot print unless humans have 24" long feet.
My brother and I were hunting the southern Sierras for predators back in the 60's. We saw four very large human type things coming down the mountain in our direction, needless to say, we did not hang around to shake their hands or paws lol. Funny thing about it was, we got no eye reflection, all animals reflect light at night except humans and Bigfoots. How do I know that? Prove me wrong....lol /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Brennan, RE: ABT, did I write? I plead guilty. How am I charged? It wasn't my idea. I had actually contacted publishers for 6 years in hopes they'd have an editor put together a high-interest anthology of AK adventures for my literature of the North students--that my English department could purchase a classroom set that I could use. Instead a publisher wrote me that "we think you could do a bear book." Say, what! Now, look what those publishers unleashed! Scary.
Danny B, could you enumerate more on your 4 bigfoots while hunting predators in the 1960's...at night? in same group? interesting stuff. Have spent a few nights lately surfing bigfoot sites. Some awesome stuff. One thread that seems to run through a lot of the "sightings" is the scream. I just typed in bigfoot audio and got 3 tape tracks on the Coast to Coast show. I think I'd either wet myself or worse were I out alone (or with a group?) and heard those sounds at night (or day). Thanks. lk

Larry, it was a long time ago. Strange as it sounds, we did see four large somethings coming down a hill slowly in our direction ( we did not hang around to find out what they were ). They did not look like any animal I ever saw before and their eyes did not reflect light, so they were not bears. To my knowledge, only human eyes don't reflect light...whatever that means. Larry, it is and was legal to light for predators in most of California.

Danny B, I've never hunted with a light but have been tempted a time or two to show a little light on a moose critter. The only time I remember using a flashlight was when two buddies were holding a light for me while I headed behind the cabin for firewood when the visiting grizzly's eyes appeared peering our way from the wood pile! Hmmm. Not a good situation. We did not use any more firewood that night. We'd heard a noise and thumped out in our shorts to be greeted by Mr. G, he of the long tooth and claw. As I recall, his eyes "glowed" green. I fired off a round into the night, he fled, returned and met another night round before we exited. Next a.m. we returned to our tumble-down shack (no glass in window openings) to find our Coleman stove intact but numerous tooth holes in our emptied canned grub. This was a few miles behind Gunsight Mt. Lodge near Eureka, AK on the way to Abernathy Creek. I've seen a few other eye reflections in headlights but never our hairy friend. I'm itching to go on a little expedition to see if I can view critter, hair, track, twistie, etc. Keep me posted if you hear of any feasible ventures into the hinterland as I'd be a happy compadre. Thanks. LK
