which one do yall use? i have a harris for shooting prone or off the bench and i love it. i was thinking of getting another harris for sitting and kneeling but ive seen a lot of pictures of people using the stoney point rapid pivot bipod. any thoughts on these? thanks

I'm only 5'9" and the Harris is just a hair to short for me so I'm always kinda hunched over to see through the scope especially if the ground in front of you is at all lower.
I think the rapid pivot is the way to go!

Can't comment on the Stony Points but I use a Shooter's Ridge bipod. Extends to 29". Plenty of adjustment for shooting when your sitting.I sit in the Indian position and put my elbows in my knee joints for a really good rest.
I'm 5'10" and have never needed to extend them all the way.

+1

I'm 5'6", the Harris is too short. I have to lean forward or bend down. Too heavy also.

The Stoney Point Rapid Pivot fills the bill. Attaches to the rifle/shot gun. Detaches easily. Allows me to pivot and shift point of aim quickly (the Harris is limited in this manner also). It is light. And it makes a good walking stick when detached.

if you have the rapid pivot deployed while sitting, then you raise the gun bringing the legs off the ground to move the rifle, do the legs of the rapid pivot stay spread out like the harris does? or do they collapse together?

I've gone to the Vanguard Equalizer in the middle size.

I'm 6'2" and I can use it seated on a hill side. It pivots and it is lightweight.

It's more tedious to deploy than a Harris but it definitely fills the bill for calling

I have good luck with the BogPod shooting sticks. They adjust from good lengths for standing to sitting. I have added a rubber ATV gunrack hold down strap to use when necessary.

They collapse a little.

However, if you grab the yolk of the bipod with your index finger on the outside left, and your pinky on the outside right, and the two other fingers in the middle of the yolk, you can raise rour gun up, shift position, and set it down veru quickly with the legs still spread and a minimal amount of motion/noise. Works great.

The Harris bipod leg spread isn't adjustable, you can't piviot, and the bipod is too heavy (IMHO).

I like the Bog Gear bipods and tripods. They are solid as a rock and fully adjustable from sitting to standing. When using the tripod, it is easy to pivot the entire setup on the pivot leg without lifting the sticks off the ground. All in all, I feel like they are the best on the market, and their company is always trying to improve things for their customers.

I use Stoney point and the problem with them is that they constantly need to be adjusted for the terrain. I bought a set of johnny Stewart sticks from cabelas for $10 and used them all weekend and loved the light, always attached to your rifle and easy to adjust cause they have some flexibility to them

do the legs on the bog pods stay spread when you pick up and shift position?

I use 2 different height VersaPods. The mount fits on the sling stud but the pod detaches completely. Depending on terrain and conditions, I usually carry one Versa Pod mounted on the gun and the other in my pack or belt. Like the Harris, the sitting bipod is a little short for me so I often have to pinch the two legs inward reducing the leg spread to give me a couple of inches more height. I tried to make some extenders to pu on each le out of PVC but they proved to be too wobble. I'm still experimenting with other way to add a couple of inches to the bipod with some kind of add-on.

I also got a BogPod tripod late in the summer and like it a lot for sitting shots at groundhogs.

I have a VersaPod mounted on all of my rifles, but I got tired of carrying both bipods (prone/sitting), so I tried some shooting sticks. But again, transitioning from sitting to standing required TWO sets of sticks. Finally I have gone to the Stoney Point sitting/standing telescoping bipod sticks, and I love them. They are fairly light, they are easily adjustable, although most of the time I leave them adjusted, and simply move them in and out for height adjustment. Finally, they are affordable.

Win, win, win.
