27 cases out of how many millions of people that are camping and hiking in bear country every single day? On the other hand there was about a dozen attacks in montana in just one year from grizzly.
I think the real black bear danger is while you are asleep in your tent. forget something in your pocket like chapstick and the bear crashes into the tent. You are so drunk you don't even hear anything till its too late.
