The wildlife officials can say what they want, and will.In Oklahoma they say(they being game rangers)that Oklahoma does not have mountain lions,so one evening my neighbor called out the local ranger to ask him to identify this weird critter, that was living in a huge brush pile with two kittens. To make a long story short, the ranger left the scene walking backwards,it was a mother mountain lion with two kittens, and oh yeah one of which was very dark in color, almost black, and i believe was very black.A pigmentation problem must of been the blame, just like the albino deer living on our property, also we have a albino squirrel.I have personally seen four different mountain lions, one was on the swim beach at tall cheif cove on lake Skiatook.

If the cat's location is that predictable, I think I'd walk down to that brush pile with my trusty camera and get me a couple of pictures. With shotgun backup, of course. If you've never tried it, you can also get surprisingly good pictures thru a spotting scope.

My Great Grandfather managed the horse teams in the logging camps in northern michigan. My Grandmother and Great Aunts and Great Uncle grew up in the camps.

My Grandmother and Great Aunt told me "stories" about how they would be shadowed by a black panther on the logging road in one of the camps ( I think it was when they were near Kalkaska). They said it happened at least a couple times just before dark when they were walking home .

They both are deceased for some years now. I wish I had written down their exact accounts. But I have no reason not to believe them. And both of them related the same thing.

I am sure there were no jaguars or jagurandi up there. Take it for what it is worth, but it comes from two honest ladies who were used to the animals of northern Michigan.

just about 4 weeks ago a mt lion escaped from a resce center 13 miles from my place and has vanished. I get a little nervous now when calling for yotes,

An old lady from our church told my Mom she had a run-in with a game warden. THey live just south of Minneapolis.

"I tell you I'v seen a mountain lion in the pasture!"

"There are no mountain lions in MN"

On it went.

"How about I shoot it with my rifle and show it to you?"

"YOU BETTER NOT- THEY'RE PROTECTED!"

"But you said there were no mt. Lions in MN..."

I've seen black cats in Texas. My wife's from Stamford and we were driving there one winter day about 10 years ago, and as we drove through Leuders, two ran across the highway right in front of our car. We looked at each other in disbelief. I've heard many stories of black panthers in that area, but I never believe it until I saw them myself.

They also say we don't have mountain lions in this part of Texas, but I've seen one of those too. I was hunting turkey with my dad near Eastland, TX and we watched one through binoculars carry a baby goat OVER a barbed wire fence. He was too far to shoot at but it was most definitely a mountan lion. Needless to say, I do not sleep in the blind any longer.
