Believe me, I freaked out. Here's what happened. Like I said, I bought the scope and paid with Paypal. The vendor gave me a tracking# which allowed them to take my Paypal money, but when I tracked it that evening, it showed the shipment as cancelled. At that point they had my money and the scope. I tried to call Paypal, but they were closed, so I started a claim against the vendor.
After I filed the claim (10:30 pm), I suddenly get another tracking number from the vendor. I called them the following morning. The office girl (Micaylah) was mad at ME for filing the Paypal claim. She said they always tell customers to call them before filing a Paypal claim. Of course I could not since everyone was closed. She said the person who processes UPS made a mistake on the first shipment. My opinion is, they wanted the money before shipping so to get around Paypals rule that they cannot take money before shipping so they figured out a way to do it. I told Micaylah, that they also made a second mistake. I asked Micaylah why when the shipment mistake was made, did THEY not call me (the customer) to tell me what happened, but I got no reply.
This paragraph is the real reason for this post. Micaylah, told me to go to Paypal and close the case against them. I did, and before clicking to close the case, a big warning came up saying that once you close the case you CANNOT REOPEN IT. I thought well maybe you can't reopen it, but you can refile it, but to be sure, I called Paypal. If you read nothing else, read this: ONCE YOU FILE A PAYPAL CLAIM, YOU CANNOT REOPEN OR REFILE IT IF YOU CLOSE IT. PAYPAL IS TOTALLY FREE OF THE ISSUE. The Paypal agent told me "Do not close the case". She said to wait until the item arrived (it was coming adult signature delivery), and when I received the item, then close the case.
Finally what to do? The second tracking was valid, the item was enroute. If I close the Paypal case Paypal and the vendor are off the hook. I called the vendor and talked to Micaylah and explained there were only 2 options. They could let the item be delivered and I would immediately close the Paypal case, or they could contact UPS and redirect the package back to them, and issue a refund through Paypal. Micaylah said she could not make that decision, but Jason, the owner, would call me back and let me know which way he wanted to go. Jason never called me back, but later when I tracked the package, it showed an address change had been requested. They did not even have the courtesy to call me back and let me know. You can tell a lot about a company by the actions of the management.
Bottom line, I am not getting the NOX 35 from this dealer, and I will probably get my money back from Paypal in 30 days.
