bullet puller

So I have some bullet pulling to do and I am looking into some of the different bullet pullers. I have the standard impact hammer type puller which works very well as long as you aren't trying to pull plastic tipped bullets, which of course is what I need to pull. Anyone have any opinions on the various cam lock type or maybe something else?

I had a bunch ( 800 or so ) of 22-250 and 223 bullets to pull. I did about 50 with my impact type puller and gave up. Too much work and too boring. I ordered a Hornady cam lock and I could pull a couple of hundred in 20-30 mins. Only way to go, IMHO.

Might want to look into Hornady's cam-lock puller. I have one and it has worked very well on all styles of bullets. It does involve buying c ollets for various calibers.

I think he is referring to the impact pullet damaging the tip when it comes out and hits the plastic end. I put a little piece of foam in the tip of the hammer and have no problems

Should be no reason the impact puller will not work on plastic tip bullets. It has felt in the end so damage is not an issue either.

When pulling poly tipped bullets with my hammer it was chewing up the tips. My hammer was a hand down and is quite old, no felt in it, but maybe I will try putting some foam or felt back in and see what happens. Thanks for all the replies.

The foam earplugs work

The RCBS, and Hornady work the same, But pulling the handle on the Hornady, is easier than twisting the screw on RCBS. Both great products.

Good idea on the ear plug. Venatic's video of the grip-n-pull looks incredibly slick. Not all that bad price either if you consider the cost of the collets for the die type pullers...

The grip N pull must be a pretty good puller because ya know they must have sold a bunch but never see any for sale (used). I'm going to add it to my list of things to get also.

I have both the kinetic puller (hammer), and an RCBS collet puller. The collet is great, especially for bottle neck stuff, such as what your dealing with. It doesn't even leave a visible mark on the bullet if used properly.

i started with a kinetic (hammer) puller. and then i ran into some good neck tension loads and it got old quick when i had to yank them.

switched to a collet puller and i've never been happier. Mostly i'm pulling length tester loads, but still WAY easier than banging away on the bench with the kinetic puller.
