I made the statement in the opening of your post, and I stand by it.
I have been a member there for over 4 years. You need to spend more than a day there to get the jist of the board.
Look at the Predator Call forum. The question about drilling holes for the calls.
You got maybe 4 replies and not one of them is going to be very helpfull to the call maker. Yet here on PM, they could get a complete detailed breakdown of the entire process. That would NEVER happen on CCO, and it doesn't.
It's like the new Call Makers Guild they are forming. But only for people on CCO. Have you seen it posted on any other board on the net? No. And you will not. It is a very self centered closed world there.
You certainly might find discussions that you feel are helpful, but you need to actually become a member and follow the boards for a while to see what really goes on.
And NO, the same thing has not happened to you here. You have not been a participating member of this forum. If you were, you would be welcomed with opened arms. You would get answers to questions, support for your work, and encouragement to keep it up.
But when you come here, lurk around, and then near copies of other peoples stuff show up on E bay, well, it makes you look bad. Register as a HOB call maker. It will cost you 75 bucks, and post some call here. They will sell, and you will fit in I am sure.
As to your tone board protector....Rich Cronk has a unique way of protecting his reeds on his calls. I have talked about this with Tony Tebbe at length on the phone.
He, or I or anyone could easily copy Mr. Cronks idea, but it was Tony who said he would not do that out of respect for Mr. Cronk. Tony is a class individual. He does use the tubing as a reed protector, and has been doing so for a while now. Respect - it goes a long way.
As for your toneboard - let me give you a tip.
THe tubing that Tony puts on his toneboard is meant to protect the reed, not the hunter.
You need to sand the edges of your toneboard down so they are not sharp. The hunter is going to be putting it in his mouth, and if it cuts his lip, he is not going to be happy about it.
You turn some nice looking calls, and maybe we have not been completely fair with you, but maybe you have not been completely fair with us either.
Why not we start over? I am sure you would be an asset to the call makers here, new and old, and I am sure you would pick up some tips from us as well.
Trust me on this one thing....you will make your HOB fee back in about a week. I don't know of one call maker who has signed up who has not recouped the fee in short order.
I would love to see your work on Predator Masters, and I am sure that a lot of others would also.
Let's burry the hatchet on this one. I'll apologize for jumping on you, and I am sure others will too.
Again, I am sorry if we came off a bit harsh.
