Can anyone recommend a good tripod setup?

Kinda wish I missed it! Not sure why I did it, but I copied his testing post and googled it. Google AI noted that it was a test study done by the company that made the BOG ballhead conversion he was running. 🤣 Hell, I even went looking for what tripods and heads are best foe PCP airguns at some high end airgun sellers and they were pretty much what we’re all familiar with.

I have nothing against the guy, but to hop in and spew a bunch of shit that quite honestly made just about zero sense isn’t a great way to fit in.

And if any of my comments offended you BOG tripod users, that was never my intention. I honestly don’t care what anyone uses. My comments had more to do with the guy’s comments he was making about all the tests and terrains etc, noise, stiffness, leg spread yada yada, bla, bla, and he was actually running probably the most economical and basic unit on the market! With a ballhead conversion. Maybe that’s what made it the best? ;)
 
I use a Bog with a ball head and was traumatized by your comments. I felt so bad I went and finally shot a coyote last night with my new rifle and the Bog.
I couldn’t sleep thinking about that hateful comment. I demand and apology and a Fat Boy tripod or else I might never get over the trauma!!!

My sincerest apologies Spur. I kinda knew I would ruffle some feathers, but had no clue my words would cause such deep trauma. Can I at least kill one coyote with my Fatboy before I send it your way? Sorry, that is selfish of me. What's your address?

I was pretty butt hurt by his comments also. So much so I went out and bought a Sunway Foto T3240CS. He was right tho, the BOG is now a back up, I'm really liking the Sunway. So I guess I'm probably not hurt any more, I think, I don't know, I'm so conflicted.

Wow!… You BOG guys can be pretty sensitive! The conflict within will ease with time. 🤣

I came here thinking this was a place to share knowledge, learn from others, and contribute some hard-earned experience. Instead, I’ve seen how quickly some folks guilt trip you for mentioning a BOG tripods in a post. I’ve been using tripods since before many of you even had a tripod, so I know everything there is to know! I served many coyotes their last meal from atop tripods that never got tested for anything more than leg spread and stiffness, and I’ve spent a few dollars upgrading setups that work in the field, not just theory.

I tried to be respectful by indicating that I didn’t mean to offend your BOG tripods. I’ve even joined BBA (BOG Bashers Anonymous) to work on controlling my hurtful rhetoric. I shared what I’ve learned from others, my own experiences, and actual predator killing in my region. But when I see that some guys are actually happy with their BOG tripods I have to ask myself, is this really the kind of community I want to invest in? Dammit!.. there I go again. I’m sorry!

I’ll keep going to my BBA meetings so long as they don’t interfere with coyote hunting. Good luck to those who think I’m leaving PM. You guys are stuck with me!

i have a bog death grip that i use for deer hunting on the edge of soybean fields. its rock solid and does great. but i wouldnt leave the gun attached in that clamp and toss it over my shoulder like i do when hunting coyotes at night when i use my field optics tripod in an arca swiss clamp.

bogs have their place as do others.

You’re good, bohunr. But you have to admit that keeping it simple with just leg spread and stiffness is way more fun than all that scientific stuff that’s been mentioned. 😈
