Cass Creek Nomad w/ remote - Any Success??

Has anyone actually had any success calling in a predator with one these Cass Creek Nomad remote units. I have only tried mine on two stands and have not had any luck yet. Will the Cass Creek unit be a productive tool or should I get with making the homemade ecaller?

My observations so far:

Both the Jack and Cottontail distress seem realistic.

The coyote pup distress is so real that I almost want to run over there and help the poor little guys out myself.

The volume control on the remote is almost worthless. You can only slightly change the volume up or down after the call starts.

Lack of volume can be helped by purchasing a second unit. I placed them side by side facing oppisite directions and volume seems better with minimal distortion.

The remote only works out to about 60 yrds which is okay I guess. The antenna on the remote is not collapsible which makes it more fragile to take out in the field.

I tried one in a store recently and I heard a "pop" at the end of each sequence. Have you noticed that on yours????

I actually hear it at the begining of a sequence, but I only notice it when I am close up. I can't hear the pop from 40 yards, but then again, I'm not coyote. Since the sequences are pretty long (almost 1.5 minutes each) I don't see this as a major problem. The only short sequence is the coyote howl. It only lasts 10-15 seconds and is also the least realistic of the five sounds the unit produces.

Called in a Coal Black 30lb'er coyote today. With my Cass Creek Nomad. 1-min, 20 seconds after it was turned on. Coyote flew in, whipped a fast 90 degree'er & flew away [he seen me move] /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif. I ripped off 4 fast-movers on his carcass, after barking... He's still alive.

My Bro 1dog, was my tail-gunner. He said that coyote was coming in on my coordinance around 30-mph, ears forward.

There's always next time /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

BTW, I was using the Jackrabbit distress /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif
