CCW Weapon of choice

I carry a glock 29 in cool weather and either a sig 238 or shortened grip glock 23 in the summer depending on dress. I definitely feel undergunned toting the .380 around compared to the 10mm.

Springfield XDs in 45 ACP
or Ruger LCP .380

The LCP in a wallet style holster is easily concealed, carries relatively comfortably, unless you have to sit on a hard bench you don't know it's there, and with laser sight you have some idea of where you want to hit.

There's not a lot of difference in size of the LCP 9mm and the 380 can be converted to 9, but I really don't know why anyone would want to convert it for what they're asking for the conversion kit.

Downside is... The trigger on the LCP sucks, and it's only moderately reliable outside arm's length, given the short barrel and truly ugly break on the sear. It just plain jumps when the trigger breaks on it. There's nothing short of trigger mods going to stop it. I've dry fired mine repeatedly holding the laser on a doorknob, trying to figure out where the issue is, and I can hold it perfect right up to the point the trigger breaks, and then it jumps EVERY TIME.

Favorite is a Colt light wt. commander, but also carry a 642 and just recently started carrying a Glock42 with Crimson Trace, depending where I am going and how I am dressed.

Best gun on the market for concealed carry. A single stack with 8+1. It is so slim and light I forget it is on my hip. It shoot's like a much bigger combat weapon. I went through a lot of carry choices before I found my Shield. They will have to come out with something much better (Ray Gun) before my EDC is anything but the Shield.

I just bought a Glock 17 Gen4 couple months ago, that'd be a pretty big gun, overall size not caliber, to use as your CCW but with 17rnd mags, you'd have plenty of firepower.

I'll be getting a Shield before the summer. Looking at the performance center version.

If you can find a Cabelas that has one or if they'll do a rain check, they have the best price of anyone I've found on the Performance Center ported version of the M&P Shield at $449

I like these a lot but I can't decide between the 9mm or the 40, I'm leaning toward the 40 slightly more.

I work at Cabela's part time. We have a couple and with a discount, I get em at a good price. That's the real reason I am leaning that way.

Same here. I recently switched from a sub compact glock to the M&P Shield 9mm. I also own a 4.25" barrel Pro Series M&P 9mm. I have to shoot a 50 round qualifying course with 12 of those rounds being from 25 yds. The Shield will shoot within a couple points of the full size every time. I use to be a Glock only person, I tried a buddies shield, then bought one, now it's all I carry and I sold my Glock. I bought the Pro Series after the Shield and it's a dream to shoot also.

It may not be for you because everyone's feel is different but the Shield gets my vote.

Both the M&P Shield and the Glock 43 are a good combination of size, capacity and are/can be had in 9mm. Just a matter of what pistol points and handles better for you. Another thing to look at is availability of holsters. I'm sure there are plenty for the M&P, but I haven't checked for the Glock 43 (it being relatively new). That said, I carry a Glock 26.

s&w airweight hammerless 38spl. +p gold dot hollow points. either in pocket holster, Blackhawk serpa or safariland IWB.

all you should ever need in ccw gun is a few shots, revolvers are better imo because not very many people have the competency to fix an auto in a crap hit the fan situation. revolvers are simple, easier to hide and have heavy trigger pull so in the pocket there is a slim chance its going off. I see guys pocket carrying auto's without safeties and its a little scary.

Does your revolver have a safety?

A holster that covers the trigger is your friend no matter if its a revolver or pistol. Otherwise there is no different between the two. It's just many still think autos are "supposed" to still have a safety.

The Sig i have pictured above has no external safety. Its DAO external hammer fired design. Same long [beeep] trigger pull as a .38....

Many of the semi autos don't have safeties either.

I first had a Walther PPS for my wife as her CCW. I liked it but she wasn't a big fan. My mom and sister both have S&W 442's and she seemed to like those and I was going to get one for her when I came across a deal on a new Ruger LCR 38spl+P with the laser at CDNN sports that I couldn't pass up. She loves it and couldn't be happier.

The 442 and LCR, both, make excellent CCW if you're looking for a revolver and for someone that maybe doesn't shoot a lot and is maybe not comfortable with the workings of a semi auto, those little 5 shot revolvers are a great choice and they conceal VERY easily.
