Check out what UPS did to my Mark V !!!!!

Looks like it got crushed or run over. Whose to say they did not re- package it to cover their damage. + 1 on what va ken said, be persistant, civil, and dont give in till you get what is right. Good luck.

Gonna stick with hideandseek. Might not be a bad idea to see if weatherby took pics before sending it back to you. Might have swapped boxes on you.

Yes, I do have a tracking record.

Not sure if any of the portion was by air or not. It was sent as a Ground package.

That is a shame. I would want a full replacement. Replacing the stock is not enough. There could be more things broken or bent that you wouldnt notice till you shoot it and then its a matter of personal safety. Life or death. If you get to keep the old rifle, tie it to a tire before you shoulder it. Good luck.

Lawsuit...just the word is enough to get things rolling. Not saying to sue them just a powerful word in getting things done faster.

I've got a cousin that worked in a main terminal for UPS.He said he was told several times "grab it and throw it, it's insured." Haven't shipped via UPS since he told that story.

I think weatherby can apply some pressure to ups. They have other options of shippers. A loss of their contract would show up in the bottom line. Sorry for your loss. I only use ups when I have no other choice. I've had some bad experiances with ups also, but nothing compaired to yours.

That sucks I hope you get things worked out. If you can prove that it was done by ups then they should replace the gun.

Weatherby is your best bet their a quality company and should stand by you. They are the last ones to handle the rifle before shipping and can best state the condition of the rifle and the damages and the cost to repair it. If they state the replacement of the stock, the reblueing the change out of damage pieces etc would cost more than a new rifle what's UPS going to say? Plus Weatherby may just replace the rifle themselves since they chose the way it was packaged and shipped.

When I was driving truck, we hauled for UPS,FedEx,ConWay, Burlington Air and USPS.
I have been in all of their shipping terminals for more hours than I care to remember.

Believe me, they all kick, throw, slide, shotputt and everthing else to packages. They throw as much as they can into a semi trailer and stack it as high as possible. They don't have/take the time to consider what should go on top of what.

Whenever I had to open the doors before backing in, I always opened and ran, to avoid being covered by the avalanche.

Get a new gun if it takes going to the top man himself, that's unfricking acceptable!!!!!! What do they think happened? They damaged that without a doubt!!!

Thanks everyone for the condolances.

I'm not surprised at all to hear UPS and others are so freakin wreckless with packages. I also would not be surprised if some dip sh#t, min wage worker intentionally inflicted damage on my particular box. Afterall, the box did have a visable "scoped rifle" label on it. You could also see a Weatherby logo on the shipping papers that were on the outside of the box in a little plastic pocket.

I'll keep everyone informed of the final outcome. I just hope I'm happy with it.

My brother was a supervisor for a UPS terminal about 15 years ago - when stripping the freight off of a trailer that just delivered, they were expected to to offload 10 packages per minute average - that's a package every 6 second son average. Not exactly giving them time too be careful are they?? Don't know what the loading quotas were.

One members has said not to use UPS and another said not to use another company (can't remember). I used the USPS and they were 15 days late on a shipment, causing me and a fellow mwmber a lot of trouble and used USPS to ship a trigger and a money order and they lost it. I have no idea where my trigger is. What is left, Pony Express? I feel I need insurance and a tracking number just to pay my phone bill.

i have a gun that was shipped with them lost right now funny thing is that it made it 1200 miles and was lost 200 miles from me

I'll put it this way, if that were mine and they wouldn't replace the whole rifle, then Paxil or not someone would get that as a suppository. That's just crazy!

Dude,
I will say a rosary for you tonight. I own three Weatherbys, and if they would do that to mine.....well someone would have to pay, "I reckon so"!

man imagine if it didnt split into.......you would have gotten that gun, babied it forever and never knew that had alrady had the guts beat out of it.!!!!!i am glad it did break so at least you know that you are getting a good gun, and not one that has been through the ringer before you even pulled the trigger for the first time.
