I believe the facts and figures I stated show that there is no one reason for the decline in hunting. It is a combination of things; too many other things to do, cost, access, legislation, urbanization and others.
We all know that hunters have and always will have to pay for their sport. We also know that hunters shoulder the lions share (if not all) of the burden when it comes to conservation of wildlife. The anti-hunters, but more importantly "non-hunters" (that 80% again) are not putting their money towards wildlife and habitat. If the numbers I gave for Texas, for example, are true, then there will be 200,000 fewer hunters to contribute to wildlife conservation 10 years from now.
I wasn't trying to place the blame on any one segment of society. I was just saying how it is.
As far as high fences go, I do have some concerns especially when the acreages get ridiculously small (no cactus within a 150 miles of me either, by the way).
I (nor We) may not be able to prevent the decline, but I would like to seek ways to slow it down and preserve a hunting heritage that is only a generation or two from going by the way side. Maybe that is too idealistic.
