This picture of the Dust Bowl migrants going to California reminded me of my grandfather, who was a farmer. No matter the temperature, he would always pour his boiling hot coffee from a cup to the saucer. This was common among many of the old timers when I lived in the Central Valley of California.

Tough times then, folks had to do as that old saying reminds us... use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without! I am old enough to remember my mother in the mid 1940's using the ration booklets to purchase necessities. As for the HOT coffee, I think that everyone that could afford coffee enjoyed it HOT.
Red Steagall, an old cowboy and host of the TV program, Somewhere west of wall street, always closes his program with the words "We got this one saucered and blowed, time to get to work.
